Regular Member BobbyBoucher Posted June 19 Regular Member Share Posted June 19 (edited) I had 3600 grafts done last year by @Dr. Ozlem Bicer Clinic. It was my first ever hair transplant. This was just before the clinic raised their prices. Things went well as far as service from Dr Bicer and the team and the whole thing was a breeze. Zero Pain. I felt the growth was very slow for my hair, but in total honestly Dr Bicer and the team were amazing and put me at ease. She even video-called me from her holiday at around the 5 month stage as i was worried about the slow progress. I had it done last April and now it's June 19th. When I had the consultation with Dr Bicer she said I may or may not need a second transplant, initially I thought I'd not need a second. My crown is poor and my fringe is thin. Now this is not a slur on Dr Bicer, as no two people will grow the same rate of hair. Neither will they have the same results. I feel it's sadly failed at this stage, but I think If I had not gone to Dr Bicer It would be 10x worse. I've done everything apart from take finasteride, and I guess that's something I should consider at this point, but for now I have shaved my head and I'm debating just going for SMP which I almost did before this transplant or getting another transplant. Some people respond amazing to a transplant, and others are just "meh", and i fall in to the latter category as a weak responder to a transplant. No regrets of choosing Dr Bicer, but mixed feelings about the cost and time involved to get the result I have. I have uploaded some pics. Combination of some taken today, some at the clinic and some at the 6-8 month stage. Edited June 20 by BobbyBoucher pics

Regular Member ScottishGuy21 Posted June 19 Regular Member Share Posted June 19 Sorry to hear this. I’m in a similar situation, granted I’ve had a few scalp issues. I feel my transplant is rapidly in free fall 🙁

I have the original ones somewhere prior to the transplant. Just to be clear this is not me bashing the clinic, just being honest, that things did not really work for me.
Senior Member ITA Posted June 19 Senior Member Share Posted June 19 I have always thought that in a hair transplant, in addition to relying on a good clinic/surgeon, the "luck" factor is fundamental.
Regular Member Eli_Avdikian Posted June 19 Regular Member Share Posted June 19 I don't think you're doing yourself any favor but not being on medication. Do you happen to know what the hair/graft yield of your operation was? Looking forward to see the pictures. They'll definitely help us evaluate your result and approximate survival rate (not to mention your hair characteristics)

Hair transplants " do's and dont's" are not set in stone though to be honest. The under 2k hair mills all demand you go on fin and minoxidil(many won't touch you unless you've been on them for 6m prior!), but as you climb the prices and quality of surgeon it's a case by case basis. I had a full evaluation and It was up to me if i wanted to use them, rather than a requirement of treatment. I went to quite a few places first and the higher end places all seemed to be on the same page. I do understand what you are saying though @HappyMan2021. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted June 19 Administrators Share Posted June 19 I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. It sounds like you've continued to lose hair. This is why taking a DHT blocker is important. If you don't get on a DHT blocker, you can end up worse than before the HT. Have you considered getting on a topical? 1 Quote I was just an inch away from booking a a hairmill based on google reviews before i stumbled upon this goldmine of a forum. The only thing i did use was a good shampoo and some supplements from 360 hair: https://www.360optimumhair.co.uk/product/360-optimum-hair-cleanse-stimulate-nutrition-bundle/ I will look at oral Minoxidil and other suitable products, but there is a 1000% need for work to be done on the crown, but after this experiences I don't think i want to go through all this again at 51. I am left with a hairline that shapes my face, so It's better than many.

Regular Member BobbyBoucher Posted June 20 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 20 I've finally uploaded some pics. There are some from the clinic and some from today. My first port of call perhaps should have been the clinic, but it was a spur of the moment to post yesterday. So today I did speak to the clinic and I've shared my photos and some views. I don't think I'd have got this level of support at the cheaper clinics, but the support from Dr Bicer has been quick whenever I've reached out. I am going to look at taking meds to stop me loosing anything further.

Moderators Al - Moderator Posted June 24 Moderators Share Posted June 24 It looks like you got some good growth. For a 2nd transplant I would lower the hairline a bit and add a little density throughout the midscalp and crown. That should do it I think. 1 Al Forum Moderator (formerly BeHappy) I am a paid forum moderator for hairrestorationnetwork.com. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 25 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 25 I think if you have shaved your head now and like it, or can even accept it, then why not stick with the buzzed down look? Without ongoing finasteride you will continue to lose more hair and require more surgeries. Unfortunately that's just a fact with MPB. Further surgeries will continue to cost more money. At the end of the day it's really up to you @BobbyBoucher. I personally would take finasteride if you can tolerate it if you continue down the surgical route. I have just got Oral Minoxidil, and I've spoken to Dr Bicer via video call in the last day . I only shaved my head down as I was not too happy. Once there is a plan of action and results I will post back here. Dr Bicer has been extremely helpful .
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 25 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 25 I've also been taking oral minoxidil for over the past two years and I have been very happy with the results. I do wish though that I could tolerate finasteride though. Yes Dr Bicer places the care of her patients as the number one priority second to none.
