Recommended Posts

Patient’s information

- 65 YO Asian male with AGA Class 7.

 - Underlying medical history: Nil

The patient had a long history of progressive hair loss. He has a father with advance stage hair loss too. He never had any treatment before. We discussed the possibility of surgery, and the possible outcome we can expect. We agreed to have the FUE surgery done x 2 times. Each session would be 8-10 months separately as he refused to have linear scar from FUT. We agree to do the frontal coverage first. The photos represent the change after 2 surgeries. The frontal coverage was done in the first surgery and crown and the rest area was done later 8 months. WE did PRP intraoperatively and prescribed topical Minoxidil+Finasteride after surgery.

We performed shaven FUE procedure. Using the MAMBA device and graft insertion was done with implanters. The additional PRP was done intraoperation.

The number of grafts breaks down into

1st surgery :

1 hair graft x 283

2 hair graft x 1,192

3 hair graft x  1,097

Total =  2,569 FUG

Total follicles = 5,958

Ratio of hair per graft = 2.32

2nd surgery :

1 hair graft x 330

2 hair graft x 1,959

3 hair graft x  728

Total = 3,019  FUG

Total follicles = 5,704

Ratio of hair per graft =  2.00

The patient had very good density of the donor area. He had large component of 3 hairs graft. However the second surgery, his ratio of 3 hair graft reduced.

The photos show 4 months after second surgery and  12 months after first surgery.

The first surgery went very well, and the results from the second surgery, four months in, are also encouraging.

The hairline looks natural, and overall, everything appears to be age appropriate. The grafts have been used efficiently and economically, especially given the advanced stage of baldness.

I am looking forward to seeing the complete outcome of the second surgery. If it continues to progress as anticipated, it will meet all expectations. Excellent work. 👏👏
