Hi all.

I have very grateful to this forum providing me with direction and guidance the past few months.

I am a 40 year NW 6 and thinking of going with Dr. Bansal/eugenixs based on some the great reviews here. I am from the United States, but results from her have impressed me the most in high norwood cases, something I have not seen from the U.S. doctors.

My biggest concern is that Dr. Bansal previously did all the extractions, but now she only does the slits and the technicians do the extractions and implants. Overall, seems less involved with the procedure as they have become more popular, but I did receive assurances that she would be involved (checks 3-4x a day for 10 minutes etc)

How important is it that the doctor is involved with extractions and implants? I understand the Eugenixs techs are excellent and that for me to get 4-5k grafts in one sitting requires a team, but just not sure how important doctor involvement is on these steps.

Am I making the right decision going with her?

Slits are very crucial steps during Hair Transplant and majority of the doctors do slits and the rest extraction and implantation is done by their team.

There are very few doctors that are invloved completely but they do come with a price and their wait list is quite big.

I think you will be in a good hand's if you are going with Dr.Bansal or Dr.Sethi both are great doctor and their team are quite good.

Slits definitely a crucial step, it'll determine at which direction/angle hairs will grow. Also depth of any particular hair. I think you're definitely making the right decision if you proceed with Dr. Arika @gary123

Personally, and I say this as a former patient, I think as a minimum all aspects of the surgery should have proper oversight from the surgeon (even if delegating parts of the actual work). Dr Arika won't be in the room most of the time, and I'd have some concerns as to how much proper, careful and diligent planning and consultation you'd be getting ahead of the surgery. These are issues many patients (myself included) have experienced at Eugenix with all the doctors, and increasingly at other clinics, too.

I asked about price in my first response because depending on how much it costs per graft now to have Dr Arika, there could be other options within the same price bracket that you'd want to consider as well.

350 indian rupees  a graft + 18% tax  - about 5 us dollars a graft total.

What were your issues at the clinic? Who would you recommend instead?

I've written about some of my own issues in my own thread (I won't retype them here), and if you spend time going through other cases you'll see some of the same complaints: poor to zero planning/consultation, the surgeon not being in the room for the whole or even majority of the surgery, other surgeons that you haven't paid for or consulted with being involved, organisational issues where the left hand isn't talking to the right hand etc. They produce excellent result the vast majority of the time I think if you have the budget (which it seems you do), there's better options. All of the Eugenix surgeons are certainly talented, but I don't think the organisational structures facilitates their talents as well as it used to do when it was a much smaller clinic with just Dr Pradeep and Dr Arika. If were going to pay top whack, I'd want to go somewhere in which I'm the only patient in that day.

At $5 per graft you could go to Dr Pittella in Brazil, Hattingen Hair in Switzerland, Dr Loarwong in Thailand (the latter two open you up to the possibility of strip surgery as well, which is a great option to consider) etc... You've got a lot of great options really. For me, you want maximum time with your surgeon at all stages: consultation(s), planning and throughout the whole surgery. The more of the actual surgery they do the better, but constant oversight as a minimum and their team is small and highly experienced.

None of this is to say that Eugenix are not a good option for you or that you should not go there. But I do think it's important that patients are aware of some of these things in advance so that they can factor it in to their decision making.

For what she charges, I think there are better options out there. There are some red flags if you go through cases on this forum in detail. Minimal planning, 4 patients at one time, not much involvement by doctor. I don't think the prices and these practices add up. She does seem to have decent results overall and isn't the worst option you can pick. There are limited options for us NW6s.

In my opinion, Eugenix are still an excellent option. You don’t have to choose Bansal or Sethi. I have seen great cases from Dr. Soumesh. Check out @general-etwan he had great results and chose the lower options.

At $5 per graft, there is no one equally good here in usa (or mexico)? Having someone local or nearby would be super feasible.
