Regular Member Sunset Dune Posted April 21, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 21, 2023 I was left with long hair on the top and sides of my head and the front is completely shaved due to recipient area (hairline and mid scalp) so my hair looks really weird right now. Since Im currently 2 weeks post OP the shedding/ugly duckling phase has not started yet. How can I even out my hair so everything will grow at the same rate and it won’t look weird. Should I just buzz cut everything? How long after hair transplant surgery can you go to the barber for a haircut?
Regular Member 2Bulls Posted April 22, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2023 Your surgeon is the one to ask to clear you for a haircut. I think generally 4-6 weeks after would be safe. Many would say at 1-2 weeks you’re safe. Buzz cut is probably the best option, unless you are able to have it cut in a way to have the front fringe cover the recipient area, and it looks acceptable. I had a shaved procedure and just let it grow after.
Regular Member Bucky O Hair Posted April 22, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2023 Usually 4 weeks is the safe point to start cutting your hair again. Not sure what the best process is in terms of evening things out during the recovery phase. I am also only a few days postop and am curious whether to just continue to buzz my whole head during the ugly ducking months...or just buzz the sides and try and grow out the hair on top to about an inch or so (since I didn't do an HT on my crown yet, and I normally use the hairs around it to help cover it up).
