FUE Dr. Bicer 4000+ grafts

Sharing my recent FUE hair transplant with Dr. Bicer in Istanbul and hope to give back by sharing my story with this great network.

I am surprised at how smooth the entire process was from initial consult to surgery day with her offices. I traveled from US after having interviewed 5 doctors on my situation across US and Mexico before selecting Bicer in Turkey.

I’m 35and norwood 5 verging on 6. Fortunately have strong donor area to utilize and appreciated the plan recommended to me by Dr. Bicer for obtaining maximum coverage now and preserving donor for future need. She recommended a session of 4k grafts and potential for 4k more in a session down the road since I had a large balding area.

We did a super session of 10 hours. The team was very good and I appreciated their natural approach to recreating my hairline. Dr. Bicer was there checking on progress and doing the extraction and incisions herself and her team handled anesthesia and insertions. I was drowsy and slept for part of the surgery but the time flew for being 10 hours!  She did check in on every stage of process.

the only discomfort felt was with needle during anesthethia and that was quick process to numb the area. I appreciated how they ensured there would be no pain and methodical approach here.

after a successful surgery, I was given my medications and instructions and walked the 2 mins to the Sheraton hotel to recover. 
 

The day after the surgery I did my follow up with Dr. Bicer and she was very pleased and excited for my future results. The benefit in my case was how much donor hair I had to work with and how much they were able to cover on my scalp in one session. Optimistically it might be some time before I need to do another session. We will see over the coming year. Fingers crossed.

You have lot of existing hair spread across your scalp. If you are on meds/planning to go on meds then they should help you with density until you get your second surgery. 

Coming to the work, its very clean as expected in terms of implantation and with 4000 grafts implanted you will have amazing coverage in a year's time.  For checking extraction work , Can you please share donor pics from back angle ? (both pre and post op). I wanted to see how 8000 FUE grafts donor looks like as people normally have 6000-6500 grafts.

The hairline is same as what people get but the irregularities are nicely given. Happy growing !

She took the grafts from a rather restricted area. I’m surprised she didn’t spread the extraction zone for their towards the temple. FUE megasessions are risky but you have very strong donor and pocked a good doc so best of luck.

Good work from dr bicer. 4000 grafts is a good number for first procedure. After one year you will see if u need a second one.

You’re in safe hands. I had the same number done by Dr Bicer back in October and my donor is back at the point which you’d never know I’d had a transplant.

Taking any medications?  I'm on minoxidil oral and have been doing topical finasteride. plan to keep this up

Yes my thread can be found below. I’m 6 1/2 months in now and so far everything is going well. Like you I need a second procedure, this time for my midscalp and crown.

I’ve been on Fin for a few years along with biotin / zinc supplements. Unfortunately tried but had sides on Oral Minox / Topical.

lots more growth and lots of coverage. Happy with hairline. Density is still thin in transplanted areas. We will see if that gets thicker

Thicker but still not very dense when viewed from above and up close. From afar looks filled in.

feels like it got thinner since month 5? Anyone experience thinning or shedding late at 6 months?

1 year and 3 months update

 Not as full as I had hoped but happy. Had. A lot of area to cover from from to crown and the hairline looks natural.

It is a good improvement - no doubt, but also there was a huge area to cover and that is why it may look like more density is required. 

Do you know what was the implant density grafts/cm2?

It's a little thin throughout, but it looks natural. How is your donor area looking?

It looks very natural. You may have lost some native hair since the surgery and 4K grafts is not enough to cover the entire area. However it looks very good and you could stop here and celebrate or go back for more. Hair greed is real.
