Dr Mittal | 1844 grafts | April 23

Hi - so long story short, i recently had a transplant session with Dr Manish Mittal (on wednesday), for 1,844 grafts into my hairline.

Attached are my pre ops pics (with long hair) and ones with shaven hair (before implantation).

Overall i would say the experience was very smooth and comfortable. Dr Mani was involved in all key steps (injecting anesthestic, extraction, cutting the initial incision). During implantation (which was done by his two lovely technicians), he was back in after every 30min or so to check if the planting was done correctly

What do you guys think of the overall hairline design and density ? Have to say on Day 0 it was very densely packed (which is the most important bit for me) and the little hair bulbs looked like tiny oysters stuck on an old bridge lol. Let me know what everyone thinks !

You have chosen a great surgeon ...work looks dense packed and i believe the new hair density will match your native hair density perfectly ...will be following your journey closely...did he advised you to be on medication ? All the extraction and incisions done by him? And implantation is done by his team?

So medication : i m already on Finasteride and Oral Minoxidl for the last 3 years, and will continue both going forward

For the procedure: yes all anasthetic delivery, extraction, incision are done by Dr Mani (I was his only patient for the day). The implantation was done by his tech team, but Dr Mani was there every 30 min or so to look at the tech work and requested changes. I believe i had 3 rows of singles, 2 rows of doubles and 2 rows of triples. The new hairs were placed amongst my forelocks as well since it was thinning out (you can tell from my long hair look),

Thats nice..yeh can see your thinned forelock ....implantation look dense plus you got healthy hairs so you will get a good density ....Happy growing and keep updating ...

Looks good bud, a youthful shape densely packed, I can see that he used a lot of singles on your case, assuming that’s to match the temple peaks? 
 

should be on for a winner here. Keep up posting if you can post on daily basis we are here to help guide you incase of any problems. 
 

dr mittal is great. Glad you had a good experience with him. Proof is in the pudding really should get good outcomes. In my opinion you’ve chosen one of the best docs in the U.K. at the very least.

Thanks ! Yes a lot of the singles had gone to my 2 temples (my right side required quite a far bit of reconstruction).

Dr Mani did mention that for manufactured singles (i.e those split from a double or triple), there s a chance they wont take. Wondering if everyone knows the % chance of this happening ?

This is down to quality cutting. His techs are good there shouldn’t be a problem.

Was just about to post this later today - day 9 post op, most scabs have come off now. Density looks a bit sparse (I guess to be expected, immediately post op obv it looks a lot more dense). I havent entered the shedding phase yet (i think)

Donor is looking okay so far (please do ignore the thinning on my crown - this was before the surgery already and i plan to fix it in 2-5 years time with another HT)

What do you guys think of the overall healing/post op recovery so far ? Should the sensity still work out for my hairline ?

Mate looks flawless… face has been framed perfectly. Donor is practically undetectable. This is typical Dr Mittal work. I wouldn’t worry about the singles. His team won’t implant grafts that won’t take. Looks like you’ve got good Retention of implanted hairs including the singles. You’ll get a spectacular result just make sure you take finasteride to prevent further loss. 
 

Have you been in touch with the clinic post op. Has Dr M’ steam been helpful in guiding you?

Thanks ! Very encouraging words as i know the ugly duckling phase is coming haha - will need some positive encouragment thru the next 3 months ( i ll probably try to share monthly updates with pics)

I have got the 1 year s worth of Fin to take as well, so that actually is good money saved on my part (i ve been taking 1mg Fin daily for the last 4 years, with oral min).

Dr Mittal has been in touch with me everyday post op so far as well, checking on the pics everyday. So far so good, and fingers crossed in 3 months time this will turn out nicely (just in time for any summer trip or vacatio n i have haha)

Bud in 3 months time you’ll be back to square one. But that’s when the growth will start to kick in. Expect a solid 6 months after that minimum 9 months total to see a good depiction and then 12-18 months for final outcomes. Be patient don’t over think it and get ready for the UD stage

Evrythn is looking good at ths stage and you will soon face tht ugly ducking phase ..you just have to be patient now and don't look at the mirror all the time...give few months before judging and assuming things...and imo ur donor healed very well...you have chosen a good doctor and you will get a good outcome ...Happy growing and keep updating ...

Indeed - was waiting to go over the one month mark to make the updates. I think i ve entered the shedding phase- scabs have all come off and I havent seen much redness (?) but probably because London s been quite gloomy for the last 10 days or so lol

This is like a horror stage for us...even am waiting for this stage .. Till now i use to comment that hang on and keep calm but whn i myself is in ths situation i cn understand how difficult this waiting game is..but at the end you will sail through the shore ...
