Hello Dear Members,

I have recently had a hair transplant surgery at India where the hair transplant surgeon said he did transplanted 4800 graft where 3000 grafts transplanted at the front and 1800 grafts were spread at the crown.

Around 2.5 finger area of crown were left out of transplantation which was suggested to be done later if needed.

However after surgery it’s appearing maximum 3000-3500 graft is planted not 4800.

At the front around 100 square cm area is covered max but not a single place has more than 30 graft per centimeter square. After around 1 inch from frontal point it reduced to 10-15 graft per cm square which is giving a thinning look around 4 month mark.

A big portion of the transplanted area of crown around 30-40% covered with only 200-250 grafts and rest on both sides planted with few grafts.

In summary frontal area maximum got 2000-2300 graft and crown got 1000-1200 graft based on my counting.

Whats the best strategy left for me in this case? The hair transplant surgeon is a reputed one in India and has membership of reputed society of hair transplant surgeons.

As graft counting cheating is a common issue in many places, if you can share how it’s dealt with post surgery it will be appreciated.

I am not showing picture or revealing surgeon name at the moment due to privacy issue and as I have not done any direct consultation with him yet in this regard.

Thanks

You won't be able to count now ..you may approach a better clinic and ask them if they can help ...whereas if you are seeking opinions of the forum members than unfortunately no one can even guess it without the pics which you are not willing to post(don't know whats the privacy issue in posting just the scalp pics without showing face,)

I am wondering how any hair transplant surgeons do the graft counting? Do they count one by one as they extract the grafts? That would be easy to miscount.

They count it as they extract. I had seen a video of zarev where they were having counter in monitor for the grafts they will implant in each area. Not just the density they were measuring but They even had a time counter for each area 😄 . At end they wrote how much time they took along with the graft count for each day. This same formula he uses for extraction and takes out more grafts in a way that donor depletion supposedly isn't there.

He has techs to do those small tasks and focusses just on extraction and implantation. the diagram they have in the monitor is drawn at scalp too.

note: I am just writing what i saw in videos of him. below is name of video in youtube:

another transplant surgeon can be visited for a consultation and be asked to do a proper assessment and only they can give you count which will be accurate ( they will use magnification). Here you can get an estimate if the resolution of pics are high and you can help in measuring your scalp area where implantations have been done.

By the way if transplant has been done a month or more ago then surgeon can say your hair are in shedding phase and he had implanted more. It's a little tough to not get cheated for graft count, unless they are very reputed surgeons globally who will not do this as their name is at stake in forums. No point of them trying to earn a little more by faking graft count , when they can increase cost per graft by quality reviews of their patients and eventually earn a lot more.
