Zanyarr
I wanted to ask all of you a question how long do you think beard hair would last on scalp a year or two?
Moderators Al - Moderator Posted April 10, 2023 Moderators Share Posted April 10, 2023 It depends on what you mean. Healthy hair on your head will grow for a couple of years and then fall out. After a little while a new hair grows back in it's place and that will grow for a couple of years and so on. Body hair usually has a shorter life span and doesn't grow as lengthy. For example a persons scalp hair may grow 6 or 7 inches long while body hair may only grow an inch or two or even less. This varies a lot from person to person. Take a look at your own body hair to get an idea of what the differences are between your own body hair and your scalp hair. You should be looking at beard and chest hair. Take a look at these two pictures below. One has a massive amount of long straight chest hair which will probably work very well and blend in nicely with his scalp hair if he transplanted it. The second man has short and very tight curled chest hair and if you look at his scalp hair you can see it doesn't match at all. This guy will have a much harder time getting a decent transplant using his chest hair if he ever needed to. Next there is the question of will it continue to grow as the years go by. My opinion is that it will grow better than scalp hair as you get older. I have seen many older men who can grow a great beard, but are completely bald up top. Beard hair keeps growing into your 90's. I don't think I've ever seen someone who couldn't still grow a beard late in life if they were able to grow one when they were younger. Beard and chest hair (and body hair everywhere) keeps increasing and growing longer on most men as they age at least until the start really getting old. Scalp hair does the opposite. It can reach it's peak in your teens and only gets worse from there. A final note. Transplanted body hair does tend to soften and grow longer and act and feel more like native scalp hair after a few years. Senior Member Britanium Posted April 11, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted April 11, 2023 Just now, Zanyarr said: My question was will the beard that is transplanted into the scalp last for 5years or it will be affected by dht and will fall out like my hair did what is a life span of beard that after that life span it wont grow again? It will grow as it would have done in its original place, so lifetime most likely if done well. All hair is prone to thinning with age, beard hair included.
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted April 11, 2023 Valued Contributor Share Posted April 11, 2023 Beard hair is not subjected to DHT hence why it is now becoming more commonly used in a hybrid transplant with scalp hair. I have so far had 7,113 beard grafts added to my scalp! 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Regular Member Jay95 Posted April 16, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 16, 2023 @Gatsby - do you have photos of your beard originally before you started using it for grafts? So i can see how thick/dense it was originally

Otherwise look on YouTube where I was interviewed before the procedure. 👍 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
