Muawiyah
So my barber have very poor opinion about the hair transplant thingie, but I have read what I think is enough about the topic here but I have some concerns: My barber tells me that my donor area is poor, and I can confirm that, I also am still young but I don't think i can afford a HT before the age of 26. Using finstride is not on my option list (afraid of sided effects). I have a hairy body that I think can support BTH transplant but i read that a body hair might not live as long as scalp hair which means that would only be a temporary solution for me right? I imagine I will need more than one transplant but that is a topic for my consultant after some years if i get a positive replies here. So is there any hope? Thanks in advance. Senior Member mister_25 Posted April 10, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted April 10, 2023 Can you share some photos? part of the reality is that if you aren’t on Finasteride/minoxidil then hair transplantation isn’t suited for you. You need to at least attempt to stop or slow down your hair loss to really get the results from hair transplants. 12+ Months Finasteride + Minoxidil 3872 FUE w/ Dr Hasson | November 2022
Senior Member mr_peanutbutter Posted April 10, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted April 10, 2023 share pics you could go with bodyhairtransplants, i saw some crazy results from eugenix and pittella however you need at least 20k-30k for these result and i think its better if the balding process is completed and people already reached their end status (norwood 5-7). if your hairloss is not stabilized even those clinics might wont operatr on you
Valued Contributor Berba11 Posted April 10, 2023 Valued Contributor Share Posted April 10, 2023 1. Your barber is not a surgeon and is not qualified to judge your donor area. 2. You won't know if you'll get sides from finasteride unless you try finasteride, so try it for a couple of months, and see what happens. If you get bad sides then just stop taking it. Also, start small - 0.5mg three times a week, then 0.5mg five times a week etc... and then 0.5mg each day. 3. Photos... We can't help if we can't see what the issue is. Rahal Hair Transplant
@Muawiyah, A lot of people, including those who work with hair, such as hairdressers and barbers don’t know a lot about today’s modern hair transplant surgery. A lot of individuals still think of hair transplants as the old school hair plugs which, of course will hinder having a positive opinion about the procedure. That said, hair transplant surgery is not something you rush into and I’m concerned because you’re obviously very young. While, there are exceptions to every rule, most doctors won’t operate on patients under 25 years old. There are several reasons for this but mostly because at that age, an individuals final hair loss pattern typically isn’t fully established yet and the younger patient’s expectations are typically very high and unrealistic. For example, even the slightest bit of thinning can be shocking and even traumatic and often a young man’s first reaction is a strong impulse to fill in any thinning areas and bring back all their hair before any thinning. Unfortunately, donor hair is limited, and there’s only so much available to move to thinning and all the areas of the scalp. So this is what I suggest you do… First, post some photos of your hair, showing multiple angles of your head, including the top, sides and back. That way, we can get an idea of how much hair loss you’re currently experiencing and also see what you’re donor hair looks like. Also, if you haven’t already, I would strongly and seriously consider talking to a doctor about getting on finasteride and possibly minoxidil. Finasteride is a prescription drug that is pretty good at slowing down, stopping, or even reversing the effects of genetic hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). Make sure you understand the pros, cons and potential side effects associated with these medication’s and then make a decision accordingly. If you do decide to get on either of these medication’s, I suggest using them for at least a year to determine whether or not you are a good responder to the medication. All that to say, I do encourage you to post those photos so we can give you a better opinion on your specific situation Best wishes, Rahal Hair Transplant Rahal Hair Transplant Institute - Answers to questions, posts or any comments from this account should not be taken or construed as medical advice. Regular Member Rafael Manelli Posted April 21, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 21, 2023 Your donor doesn’t look particularly great but it doesn’t look particularly terrible either. The thinning area is huge. This would be a class 6. You could do a transplant, but without meds, your native hair will continue to thin and you’ll be right back where you started, at least visually. With meds you have a chance but not a guarantee.
Rahal Hair Transplant
@Muawiyah, The photos you presented certainly helps and will give members a better idea of what you’re experiencing. I know you said that your initial age comment is misleading but age does matter and may impact whether you’re an ideal candidate. So how old are you? Even though you and your brother may have similar looking hair loss patterns, everyone is different and you may or may not experience more hair loss than him. I fact, if your hair loss pattern and amount of hair loss is very similar to his and you’re 10 years younger, you may have more aggressive hair loss than him and end up with less hair in 10 years. So all that to say, I think some additional photos showing multiple angles of your donor would be helpful. And because your donor hair is at different lengths in the 2 photos of it you presented, I’m guessing these were taken at different times? Which one is more recent and how much time passed between each photo? I suggest taking brand new photos of your scalp as it looks today. I suggest taking the following pictures. 1. hairline 2. 45 degree angle tilt from the front 3. top 4. left side profile 5. right side profile 6. back of scalp 7. closeups of any thinning areas Also, please make sure the lighting is clear. One of the reasons why I’m asking for new photos especially of the donor area is because it’s important that people see your hair as it is currently and not how it may have looked a couple years ago for example. I don’t know exactly how much time has passed between taking photos of your donor but one picture shows your donor with longer hair and the other with shorter hair. Moreover, one looks thinner than the other. New photos showing your hair as it is now will give us a better idea of what your hair looks like today. what I can see based on the photos you presented and guessing that you are under 26 years old, is that you seem to have a pretty advanced hair loss pattern and likely lose all the hair on top of your head or at least most of it. If your donor hair is on the thinner side, you likely will not be good candidate at this time. Now, as time progresses, if your hair loss remains the same or doesn’t get much worse, you being a candidate may change. Dr. Rahal for example sometimes prefers to wait to see how one’s her loss will progress before proceeding with surgery. Proceeding with surgery to early when one appears to potentially have an advanced hair loss pattern Isn’t the best idea because it’s her loss does progressed to advanced state, your goals will likely not be met and you would’ve had surgery early for nothing. Now, I am just stating my personal opinion and our general philosophy based on information Presented so far. More information and photos would be necessary to make any real determination and even then, only a doctor is qualified to determine whether you are a candidate or not.
