Regular Member eladnm Posted April 1, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 1, 2023 I visited Dr Gur 3 days ago and started an fue surgery to implement 3000 grafts. On the consulation he saw I had a curly hair but was not too concerned about it. Dr Gur began the surgery and the extraction phase. a few mintues later he stopped and said he cannot do the surgery. He explained the my hair is C shape in the roots and as a result the hair is damaged and he cannot pull the grafts properly. He was using 0.7 mm motor punches. He recommended I should go the Dr Melike kulahci for an FUT transplant. In his letter to her he mentioned the C shape of my hair increased the transaction rate 500/290. I am shocked and disappointed but I assume he did the right thing and didn't butcher my donor area. What do you guys recommend me to do? Can I still do an fue transplant with larger punches? I have curly hair but not afro hair..
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted April 1, 2023 Valued Contributor Share Posted April 1, 2023 This was very ethical of Dr Gur (as it must have been incredibly frustrating for you) to stop going ahead knowing that he would have ruined your donor and yield. I am still not convinced that curly hair is a precursor to FUT. Have a look at some of the other surgeons recommended on here who are turning out great results on curly hair. Don't feel you have to be in a rush and ask in consultations can they work on curly hair, how and why your recommended to go FUT. All the best. BTW FUT is still a great technique. 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
