Losing graft (bleeding) 14 days after FUE??

Hello - I had 2000 graft done 14-15 days ago, which I believe was a rather successful and smooth process. Unfortunately today I noticed bleeding, which from what I read, means that for sure a graft has been lost. My doc previously told me that grafts are vulnerable in the first 5-7 days, and that just to be safe we can wait until day 10 after which he told me I can wash my hair as normal, which I did since day 10. From day 10-14 no issues either. But today I lost a graft - I did not know what was possible at day 14-15???

What do I do know? Can I still treat my hair as normal (washing/hats/hair products/haircuts)? Do I just wash off that bleeding part or should I do something to disinfect it or what else should I do? Does this mean I just lose that 2-3 hairs or does this mean something worse?

Thanks for your help!

Could be a detached scab, however, even if it was, thats still 1 of 2000 graft, or 0.05% of your transplant. Just move on.

Yes you should be washing the area thorougly by day 14 even pulling hairs graft should be safe (but still be careful just in case).

By the way, for being day 14, your HT looks very good! which surgeon you went to?

The doc saw the pic and said it is either a scab that was attached tightly and then pulled out when washing with normal water pressure, or possibly a pimple which can occur right after a HT. He said the graft itself should be deep in the scalp and totally secure by now so shouldn't worry....

I don't know....I did not pick or scratch or anything, just washed hair normally (normal water pressure with gentle massage) and all of a sudden its bleeding....still afraid that I lost a graft.....has this happened to anyone at day 15???

I did it in East Asia - and yes up until this happened it seemed like a great job and smooth process. the other side of my head and looks great no issues.

I agree that after 14 days your grafts should be secure and I don't believe you have anything to be worried about, In my opinion i would think this was a possible pimple that busted as this happened to me a few times but there was never a flow or dripping of blood, did you notice there was a pimple there? either way just breath, and I would just let it alone and let your head heal, keep doing what the clinic advised and what others have already stated and you should be good! now the waiting begins!! Good luck with everything.

Talked to the doc....he said it is something called folliculitis? Said it is a fairly common occurrence after a HT, and that I could potentially get more of it in the coming weeks/months....the blood is mostly sticking around that one spot, and not flowing or dripping like what a lost graft would look like. He said it would resolve itself and that it won't impact the graft or the HT in general. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Don't worry about it.  Sounds like an isolated event.  This is one graft of 2,000.  I rubbed out about 10 of my grafts the first night after surgery.  I did it in my sleep but I wasn't concerned nor was Dr. Vories.  Ten grafts made no difference in the excellent outcome.  You will be just fine.
