Result of 4900 Grafts on NW5 Patient – 8 Months After – Dr Maras – HDC Hair Clinic

Recommended Posts

This is a 30-Year-old Patient from Israel. He wanted to cover as much as possible from his NW scale 5 baldness and to cover the rest of crown with kippa.

To achieve this, we had to go to maximum number of grafts to be extracted in two days and we managed to reach 4900 grafts and covered all the front and top area with good density.

The other goal of the patient was to leave the donor area looking good and having available grafts for covering the crown.

It is now our standard procedures to reach and extent the 5000 grafts in one visit in 2 days and if we can even approach the 6000 Grafts mark, we can add a third day for patient with normal to good donors. The reason why the donor can still look really good is because we have minimized our transection rates and due to spreading extraction equally over the donor area, we do not produce empty areas in the donor. Take a closer look at the donor photo and donor comparison photo, to see how nicely the extradition is spread over the donor.

As we said in our previous post in more detail, the result should be evaluated within 3 variables:

1.       Naturality of Appearance

2.       Adequate Coverage

3.       Condition of the Donor

It is our advice that in general, to examine the post operation photos to understand the good work done, as sometimes the before and after photos can deceive due to favorable lighting.

Hair transplantation is a lifetime decision. You must get it right the first time. It defines your appearance and personality. Don’t Risk it for a few Dollars!

Can you clarify this section?

Is this a different protocol than your previous internal procedures? And if so, how is it different (perhaps, offering the 3rd day is the “new” part?)?

Excellent work, by the way. The patient must be thrilled!

At HDC we can offer mega sessions of 5000-6000 grafts if needed for paitents with very strong healthy donor, to do this properly, we add 3rd day of surgery without rushing anything and yet to maintain the donor area without overharvesting the donor as for example you can see with this paitent recovery.

We know the need for a patient to cover as much as possible for high Norwoods BUT still to preserve the donor for more procedures in the future if needed with minimum trauma.

HDC has been doing FUE procedures since 2003 and always thrive to progress with new standards.

What is the mm punch size used at HDC?

Changes between every paitent, depends on type of hair, it's not only choosing the right diameter, the doctor should choose the correct head for the type of skin.

What is the common sizes? Also does your clinic use dermoscopes to see miniaturization and density in native and donor hair beforehand?

Yes we use dermoscope.

We use 0.8-1.0mm, but the important thing is who is your surgeon.

When we our doctors perform the punch they go slow and not too deep, when you go very deep it's much easier to punch but also over scarring the donor, a skilled doctor don't go too deep with patience, additionally our doctors create enough gap between every punch so we can do big sessions over 6000+ grafts (if it's a strong donor) without overharvesting it, this is what we show in this example.

This is demonstration of Dr. Christina perform a punch procedure:

This is a nice hairline. Were all 5,000 grafts used for the frontal third? If crown work was conducted, would be helpful to see how the crown was handled (if the patient is comfortable with this).

Thank you.

As you can see, the paitent didn't had a procedure over the crown, 5000 grafts were used over the frontal and middle scalp areas which is more than third part covering.

The patient is wearing a KIPA since he's an orthodox Jewish and felt comfortable to show the transplanted area only.

I was just looking at this and thinking about how clever it is! 🙂

Congrats to the patient and clinic. Excellent work, as usual. You guys always post inspiring results!

Has the patient mentioned wanting any further work for the crown or is he happy as is?
