Yep stayed at the B3 Virrey. Hotel was nice. Breakfast there was pretty solid. You have to walk a bit for some good food, but generally had a lot of good food within a 10-15 min walk of the hotel. When you leave the airport and start driving to the hotel, the area looks really sketch. The area where the hotel is was A LOT better. Rained a lot while I was there so bring an umbrella. My Spanish is fairly limited, but I was able to do ok. Would recommended downloading google translate on the phone and download the Spanish language pack on it.

Oh ok cool. what about the drive to the clinic from the hotel?....is it a short distance?.....but yea I might just end up eating at the hotel the majority of the time. Especially since I'm gonna be pretty beat up. Also having some grafts placed in my beard. Wanna fix some of the patchiness. Gonna be as low-key as possible. Do the rooms have fridges?....read reviews that they don't. Hoping they at least have one there I can take.

I think it was like a 20-25 min drive? I also arrived at 2am so there was no traffic. The day going from the clinic to the airport took like a good hour because sooooo much traffic. You should definitely go explore for food. I went to this place called Central Cevicheria that was like a 10 min walk or so from the hotel. Got some massive seafood platter which was to die for along with plantains. Please ship some to the US for me haha. Unfortunately, there's no fridge in the room. But honestly other than the night after surgery, I was fine the rest of the time and felt comfortable enough to go explore. They give you a beanie to wear which I wore out and didn't have any odd looks, especially cause it's relatively cold in Bogota

Ok thanks!... I'll definitely try to make my way to that seafood spot. Love sea food. Also was it common to see people in facemasks?....seeing how my face is also gonna be in bad shape I'm gonna be wearing a facemask most of the time.

Not super common but some people definitely did. I was one of them and no one gave me any looks about it.

Hey guys, I just put down my deposit a couple days ago for my HT in April!!

I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

I'll be having Dr Pareja do my HT.

Good luck Fluffy!!

And please keep us up to date... would love to hear more about your experience.

4 month mark today (approximately since February is a short month)! Doesn't seem like a ton of new growth, although compared to the pre-op photos, I suppose it looks improved? I'm probably just being inpatient. Hoping for that explosion of growth people talk about during months 4-6, although I think I can see some hairs here and there sprouting. I can definitely feel hairs in the crown. Also hoping I can get myself to stop checking my hair everyday in the mirror lol. Well here are the photos!

@Gatsby Definitely agree about the donor. Looks practically untouched! I'm very pleased with their donor management skill. I'm glad to hear after 4 months is when the growth really began. Certainly hoping this is the month of much growth! Looking forward to seeing what the next 2 months bring

It's now the 5 month mark since the procedure. I have to say, checking my hair out in the mirror every single day has made the progress feel very slow. However, I now compared my current photos to where I was pre-op and WOW what a tremendous difference. At first I was a little disappointed with where I was at because I forgot where I had started, but comparing it to the before photos, all I can say is wow. Cannot wait to see what the coming months bring. I won't be surprised if I end up needing another HT later to fill in more density, but we'll see how it looks at the 1 year mark before we worry about that.

Pre-op photos compared to 5 months today (did the best I could taking photos myself with similar angles to the ones that were done in Colombia)

Made it to the 6 month mark! Feels like things have slowed down a bit, but things look substantially better than it did pre-transplant. Not sure what to expect over the next 6 months, but mostly hoping for some improved density. Also I think I will end up needing a 2nd HT for the crown and mid-scalp, which I kind of expected but was cautiously optimistic it wouldn't be needed. Oh well. Anyway, here are the comparison photos from before HT to now. Let me know how it's coming along (got a new phone so the lighting is a bit different)!

It’s going in the right direction. 6 months is still early for more growth.

That's good to hear! I think I see so many stellar results online of people looking great at like 5 months that it made me concerned. The post-op density looked good so hopefully it'll keep growing in!

Are you taking finasteride or using minoxidil?

Taking finasteride 1mg daily. Holding off on minoxidil because my blood pressure runs on the low-normal side.

When did you stop feeling new short "stubble" hairs poking through? I'm also at about the 6 month mark so I'm curious to compare. I stopped feeling new ones I think about a week or two ago so right around 5.5 months

I think I stopped feeling them around the 5 month mark or so. It's weird though because if I look in the mirror, it looks like there's short hairs poking through even though I can't feel them. Not sure if it's just so thin right now that I can barely feel it or what

Well we're at month 7! Cheers everyone! Just want to check in and see how the progress is. Mostly want to see if this is on pace for what to expect and/or if I should be expecting more in the coming months! As a reminder this is what it looked like post-op, and then the pics underneath are at the 7 month mark. Obviously I'm super greedy and hope for more ;). Compared to where I started though, it's like night and day.

I'll be honest, I think this is something of an underwhelming result but that doesn't mean the yield was necessarily bad. Instead it seems like more of a planning issue. All 3000 grafts should've been put in the front instead of splitting between front and crown.

It's weird. The picture on my phone looks more dense than when I emailed it to myself to post here. I'm unsure why that is. The white areas on the crown in the photos on my phone actually have more hair in them (although thin right now, perhaps they will thicken up). I took another picture in a little less bright light, and it appears a bit more dense (I know the photo is a little  blurry but I just got off work after 13 straight hours so I'm tired lol):

IMG_20230603_200920.thumb.jpg.57144b3180230fd1d0e728f21c0c79db.jpg

I also asked them to put some in the crown. The crown actually bothered me a lot. Perhaps it was a mistake on my part and they should've put everything in the front, but I knew deep down I would be unhappy if the crown went untouched. As you can see though, my starting point was awful: https://content.invisioncic.com/o278943/monthly_2022_11/IMG-20221104-WA0001.jpg.80150fc41be674ca25fa51ac5aea27db.jpg

It's definitely a substantial improvement from what it was before. This is one of the reasons I have mixed feeling so far. On the one hand, it feels like what was implanted should have resulted in a more dense result thus far. On the other hand, compared to what I had, it's markedly improved. My partner says he feels it's a substantial difference as well. There are some people here who have said they noticed a substantial difference between months 6 and 12. Hopefully that will be me.

Tomorrow will be the 8 month mark since this journey began! Since I may be out of town tomorrow, I took pics today instead. Compared to where I started, it's like night and day. I fully expect to go for a 2nd HT at some point, but I can say there has definitely been remarkable improvement from what it once was. Donor area still looks fantastic which is nice for future work down the line. Looking forward to seeing it thicken up some more.

Month 9 update: Looks like it filled in a little more compared to month 8. It's such a drastic change from where I started pre-HT. Probably will do a 2nd HT to add in some density in the future, but hopefully some the next few months have some additional filling in to keep making it look better
