Regular Member UtahHair Posted August 4, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) I am sharing my experience now in hopes others don’t make similar mistakes. Go to a clinic that uses good technology and techniques, will stand behind their work and be forthcoming and transparent. If I could go back in time I would have gone to Hasson and Wong and avoided Florida like the plague. I started noticing hair loss in my 20s and used minoxidil pretty consistently, I had platelet rich plasma scalp procedures twice and started Finasteride around 30 years old. I started looking around for a more permanent solution to my hair loss and got caught up in the large YouTube presence of Natural Transplants. I sought out a consultation and emailed quite a bit with Jerry Matos, I asked how much it would cost and he said 7k if I did it with the new guy that was being trained or 10k if I did it with Matt Huebner. Hoping to get the best possible result I scheduled with Dr Huebner. I had the FUT end of March 2018 at 1:00 PM, and it only took a few hours. I was told he got 1131 grafts and approximately 6000 hairs moved. I feel like the pictures are demonstration enough that I wouldn't recommend Natural Transplants to anyone. I made another post about my Dr Wong FUT in 2022 in my profile and how much of a better Experience it has been so far. Below is my wet slicked back hair Feb 2018 (one month before the FUT in Florida) . Below is 5 months post op Below is 7 months post op Below is 9 months post op below is the comparison between 9 months post op and 1 month pre op Edited August 4, 2022 by UtahHair
Senior Member StillAlive Posted August 4, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) Brother, I hate to say this, but you are a repair case. Whoever took out 1131 grafts by doing strip in 2018 is...I have no words. The grafts were simply too few to cover the area satisfactorily. You need somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 grafts to get dense looking hair in the frontal third. Also, even if ALL of your 1131 grafts were triples (which they weren't) there simply is no way 6000 hairs moved. More like 2000 from the looks of it. He's improved, but that clinic does incredibly low density transplants and honestly this is better than I imagine some of their results turn out. Even though it's still very low density. They're atrocious and anything other than abomination afterwards should be considered success. There was a thread on here last week by @stephcurry30 asking how they're even still in business and I wouldn't be surprised if this was posted by the clinic to try to counter that thread given that this was posted 4.5 years after the fact. Regular Member UtahHair Posted August 4, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 4, 2022 I found this site too late. If I could go back in time I 100% would not have gone there. I just had a FUT at Hasson and Wong July 2022 and it was such an incredibly different experience I thought I should post this FUT experience to help others make better choices than I did back in 2018

Senior Member HappyMan2021 Posted August 4, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 4, 2022 The moment you said "Dr. Huebner" I started shuddering...even before I saw your pictures. To be fair I can't say I know much of anything about this doctor. But his name seems to pop up once every few weeks - nothing good.... Seems like a no-name doctor who must have a really good marketing team - recipe for disaster 12 minutes ago, UtahHair said: I just had a FUT at Hasson and Wong July 2022 and it was such an incredibly different experience this is a plot twist...agree please share more about this (even tho you are only 1 month post op). Really curious how Hasson or Wong repaired you

I got an FUT x 1400 grafts and it looks terrible. I'm now planning to have a repair procedure by well known doctor in Chicago, recommended by this forum. Likewise that's why I posted about the other doctor so others avoid him. I also wish I found this forum sooner but oh well. Could've been a lot worse. Excited to see your results from Dr. Wong, I greatly admire his work. Senior Member AlexMeister21 Posted August 5, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 5, 2022 Geez, 10k for 1131 grafts in 2018? I originally had my first transplant scheduled with them in 2020, but thankfully I canceled it. Their results are like 80% subpar. I wonder if I would've been better off, though, in terms of having a better scar and saving more money and grafts compared to the doc I did end up going to. 1 Dr. Laorwong - 1,837 grafts FUE + BHT (Jan. 31, 2023)

Regular Member UtahHair Posted August 6, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 6, 2022 I think what he is saying is only getting 1k grafts through FUT shows what kind of doc it is. 1
Senior Member John1991 Posted August 6, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) That's fair I suppose. Though you could do a smaller FUT case. Anyway, glad you are in the process of rectifying your situation. Just a waiting game now. Edited August 6, 2022 by John1991

I recently had 2,500 grafts via FUT. i just think it’s silly to incur the scar for a minimal number of grafts. FUT is great if you want to maximize lifetime grafts, easier for larger sessions, ensure grafts are taken from the safe zone, or incur less cost (depends on doctor).

I agree, and I would only do it again for 3,000 grafts no less. The scar is only worth it if it covers a large area in a short time span (1 procedure). The reasons why I think he did so little via FUT are: 1) he's not good at FUE, so went for what is easier to him 2) he doesn't have the skill to do more grafts. 1 FUE 2400 Grafts (2023) - Dr. Panine; Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic FUT 1400 Grafts (2019) - Dr. Steven Paul Holt; Holt Hair Restoration/Bella
Moderators Al - Moderator Posted August 24, 2022 Moderators Share Posted August 24, 2022 I don't have a problem with doing FUT. The problems with this procedure are: 1. HE IS USING A TRIPLE BLADE KNIFE!! I haven't seen FUT done with a triple blade knife in probably well over 20 years. I'm surprised none of you have commented on that, but perhaps that technology is so old you guys don't even know about it. 2. Mini grafts!! This entire procedure looks like it was done in like 1992. The reason it's 1131 grafts and he says it's 6000 hairs is because he is doing mini grafts which are probably about 2mm to 2.5mm graft sizes, so rather than 1 to 3 hairs per grafts there maybe 3 to 6 hairs per graft. The hairline looks like smaller grafts, but everything behind that are huge. 2 Al Forum Moderator (formerly BeHappy) I am a forum moderator for hairrestorationnetwork.com.
