ovee
After about 8 days of FUE, I lost some of the hairs. Quick internet search suggests this is normal but my hairs looked more like follicles coming out than regular shedding. I am attaching a picture of one of the hairs that looked scary to me. Can someone please suggest if this is normal or I lost actual grafts I also lost hairs with scabs and in my donor area too had some light shedding. I am worried, can someone please help me out? Senior Member StillAlive Posted April 15, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2022 Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you actually lost a graft complete with hair root, there'd be bleeding and pain. What you are currently seeing is perfectly normal. Scabs and transplanted hairs are supposed to come off in the first 10 days or so. Each organism will differ and you may shed them at 7 or 8 days and someone else might shed them at 14. If you are unsure, the best bet is to contact the clinic where you got the procedure done.

Senior Member JohnCasper Posted April 18, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted April 18, 2022 You will be just fine. Even if its a follicle it won't be evident after everything grows out. I pulled out about a dozen in my sleep the first night and there was no consequence. Rahal Hair Transplant
Ovee, Shedding of the Transplant hair typically occurs between 4 to 6 weeks after surgery however, it can occur sooner than that. And yes it can occur as early as a week or so postop. That said, unless you’re seeing blood and you’ve experienced pain, there’s no way at eight days after surgery that you have lost a hair follicle. What looks like a follicle is likely either a scab or just a thicker part of the hair shaft but not the actual hair bulb/follicle itself. frankly, it would take surgery to remove the actual follicle one week after hair transplantation. it’s a sure that the hair follicles are safely secured below the surface of the scalp and will begin to grow new hair 3 to 5 months after surgery. It will take 12 to 18 months to fully grow and mature. Senior Member JohnCasper Posted April 22, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted April 22, 2022 I agree with Rahal... You will be just fine. Be patient and look forward to that 3rd or 4th month when you start to see new hairs poking through the skin.
