Dr. Vladimir Panine
This 30-year-old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 3v on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. His goal was to augment his hairline and add density to the frontal 1/3 of his scalp and add some density to the crown. Taking his age and hair loss into consideration the patient and I discussed the options and came upon an agreement for a surgical plan that would suite his expectations. I wanted to reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable for him now and as he continued to age. A total of 2,000 grafts were used in the frontal 1/3 of his head and 300 into his crown. These are his results on the day of procedure, 2 weeks post-op, 3 months post-op and 1 year post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his results and is presently on Finasteride 1mg. The result is good, but what are those punches? 1mm+? Looks like pretty big holes.
Senior Member A Fue Good Men Posted February 28, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Is there a specific reason why Dr. Panine only harvested from the occipital zone? The strongest grafts are typically in that area and usually some feathering with thinner hairs from the temporal/parietal zones is required for hairline work Edited March 2, 2022 by 5BetaReductase

By harvesting in different vertical regions of the occipital area one can harvest grafts of varying diameter. Zone 3 in the occipital area is ideal for thinner hairs whereas hair from Zone 1 or 2 are more robust and used to replace thicker hairs. See this link from the NIH regarding the vertical regions of the occipital area: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5533061/ Dr. Vladimir Panine is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. The reason the photos appear to have a larger punch is due to the use of tumescent solution. 1 Dr. Vladimir Panine is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians.
