Regular Member Coverdale Posted February 25, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted February 25, 2022 (edited) Good morning, If you search for my other posts you can find out why I decided to go with Dr. Haber in Ohio rather than Diep or Konior. I’m a 30 year old white male who has been thinning for around 6 years now. I made the decision to go with Dr. Haber and was scheduled for 2/22/2022. I arrived at 7:30am and was greeted by his staff around 7:37am and was taken into a room where I signed my consent forms and other necessary paperwork. I was then taken into the operating room where I saw the set-up for my procedure and Dr. Haber made his entrance to construct my hairline and answer any questions that I have. Dr. Haber was very informative and knowledgeable, and even though he advised against lowering the hairline to where I wanted it, we came to an agreement on where it would be. I wished to lower it much more than we did, but he informed me that we can always do that later and that doing so now would be unnatural and such. After constructing my hairline, I was taken into a room where I would have my “before” photos taken. I was then taken back to the procedure room where I was numbed up and the extraction began. The extraction lasted all morning and until early afternoon. I laid on my left side for roughly 2.5-3 hours and had a 10 minute break, then laid on my stomach for an additional 3-3.5 hours, if I’m guessing correctly. We took lunch at 2pm and got back to it around 2:40pm, which is when the transplant began. I laid on my back in a reclined position receiving my transplant until 6:30pm, which makes for an 11 hour day, however, Dr. Haber did both extraction AND Implantation, which I’ve heard is uncommon. I couldn’t have been happier to have the Dr. doing the entire procedure (with help, of course), rather than only part of it, which I have heard is more likely. I received a bottle of ATP spray and was told to apply for 3 days after the HT. Vaseline that I was told to apply to the donor area after washing for a week (I believe). No medication or prescriptions were given, but I’m okay with that. A detailed breakdown of how to care for the transplant was given in a packet and I’ve been following it. I received a total of 2,000 grafts that were added to my current hairline, added to support where my current hairline is/was, filled in my receding hairline, placed to cover a portion of receding hair in the center of my scalp, and remaining grafts were used to fill in a very large scar that I had on the top of my head. So far, I’m happy with how the procedure went and how I was taken care of. I believe Dr. Haber and his staff did their absolute best to ensure my comfortability and to make me a happy client, however, as a perfectionist, I have to point out small “cons”. I wish I was given a detailed breakdown of the transplanted hairs, such as 1000 2’s, 500 1’s, and so on, if that makes sense. I saw it on a screen at one point, but was never given any details about how many of each type of graft I received. Finally, I think the only other con would be the late lunch. I know the Dr. was probably trying to reach a certain point before taking a break, which I can empathize with, so it’s not a huge ordeal. I would definitely recommend Dr. Haber and his team for any individual interested in a HT in Ohio and I will likely use him if I decide to get a second HT. Of course, I’ll have to wait to see the full result of his work before I can guarantee that. But I did really enjoy the experience with Haber and his team and I think they did very well. cost was $7 per graft for a total of $14,000 for 2000 grafts, before any discounts. $1000 down is required to hold your position with the remainder due 1 week before surgery. The consult was free. Edited February 25, 2022 by Coverdale

Senior Member JoeMan Posted February 25, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted February 25, 2022 Can you ask the Dr for a breakdown of grafts like you wanted? I think listening to him on the hairline design was a good idea. You can always go lower but if it's too low it's hard to go back. Age appropriate is what you want. Think about when you're 45, you don't want a hairline too low. Looks like very refined work. The price is a little high but on par with US prices. Looks like you did research and chose well. 1

Diep has a great history of awesome results, but I had a difficult time with scheduling with him. The consult with him made it appear as though he was irritated by my questions and it took me 3 tries to get my consult date, because his office staff “scheduled” me and then on the day of the appointment I wasn’t on the schedule. So I waited longer than I was supposed to for my consult because the staff forgot to actually schedule me, only to have a consult that I wasn’t insanely impressed with. If I’m spending $17900-19900 on 2000 grafts and flying across the country, I expect a little better than what I received. That’s what my quote with Diep was. 5

Regular Member Coverdale Posted March 22, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 22, 2022 (edited) Afternoon, Today marks 1 MONTH since I received my 2000 graft HT with Dr. Haber in Cleveland, Ohio. I had the donor area hair cut about a week ago. I'm experiencing a decent amount of shedding and I didn't notice it until I took pictures, but I think I'm also experiencing significant shock loss, although I have only personally seen around 15 hairs fall out. My recipient area is much thinner than it was before my HT, so this is why I think I'm seeing shock loss, if I am. My donor area is healing nicely, but I'm not certain how it compares to others at this point. I feel as though it's a little TOO thin in some areas, or am I wrong? Pictures below of my ONE MONTH UPDATE. Feedback is appreciated! Thanks! Edited March 22, 2022 by Coverdale
Senior Member BDK081522 Posted March 22, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted March 22, 2022 All looks normal. Many experience shock loss in the recipient and donor. Some even experience it in areas not touched during the transplant. Just the trauma of surgery sends hair into the telogen phase. 1 Bosley 11-2016 FUE - 1,407 grafts Dr. Diep 09-2017 FUE - 2,024 grafts Dr. Konior 03-2020 FUE - 2,076 grafts Dr. Konior 09-2021 FUE - 697 scalp to scalp, FUE - 716 beard to beard Total scalp FUE - 6,204 grafts

Should be temporary though, correct? I should expect it to all grow back as normal?
Senior Member BDK081522 Posted March 22, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted March 22, 2022 Yes, should be a temporary shed. When the new grafts start growing around 3-4 months so will the shocked hair. 1 Bosley 11-2016 FUE - 1,407 grafts Dr. Diep 09-2017 FUE - 2,024 grafts Dr. Konior 03-2020 FUE - 2,076 grafts Dr. Konior 09-2021 FUE - 697 scalp to scalp, FUE - 716 beard to beard Total scalp FUE - 6,204 grafts

Regular Member Coverdale Posted May 12, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 12, 2022 UPDATE - 2 months and 20 days since HT - Feeling has returned to my scalp. My donor area looks healthy, with the exception of where they first began the removal of hair. I’m hoping this one area appears thinner since it was where they first started and or because of shock loss, not over harvesting. I have very very little growth in my recipient area. I know I shouldn’t be concerned at this point, but I can’t help to be. I’m hoping that I’ll see significant progress in the next 1.5 months. I have had my donor area cut 3 times now and have not touched my recipient area. Keep in mind that I had a decent head of hair prior to my procedure, so these “update” pics only show what I had prior to the transplant already, not much new growth at all. Hair is a bit wet, as I just showered. Should I see more by now? 1
Senior Member John1991 Posted May 13, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted May 13, 2022 Wish I could speak from experience, but I'm earlier on in the process than you are. That said, from everything I've gathered, you really shouldn't expect growth yet.

Regular Member Coverdale Posted September 4, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 4, 2022 Sorry for the delayed update. Life has been hectic lately. Please tag my profile if I forget again, as it emails me in that case. Currently 6 months and 10 days post-op. THE FIRST photos will be with hair WET and SLICKED back. It's never styled this way, I simply wanted to show the hairline. THE SECOND set of photos will be with the hair dried.
Regular Member Coverdale Posted September 4, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 4, 2022 You may notice a small handful of hairs near my widows peak that are short and seem stunted. I don't wear my hair like that, so I was not aware of how I didn't shave them entirely when I was lining my hairline up last night, so those are typically full length, but I had not taken them all the way down with the razor, accidentally.

Dyesgat
I have a question, if I am not mistaken on the top of your head there was a scar, how did it take the implanted grafts? Do you think all the grafts around that area are growing?
