Wibtransplant
I am having a hair transplant in a few days and would like to have opinion about where to put most grafts. 26 years old been on finasteride 1 year. Started losing hair at about 19 years old. My doctor believe he can do good coverage with about 4000-4500 grafts in one session over the whole head. What do you think about having the front half done with about 3500 grafts recreating a hairline and fill up density in the front. Then after a year or 2 come back to do the crown and possibly fill up more if needed in the front. Would an alternative be to do the hairline/front half and try adding minoxidile and microneedling for the crown? Where on the norwood scale would you say I am? Thanks
Senior Member Hair4Days Posted January 23, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 23, 2022 It’s good to do the front half first like you said, then down the line schedule another for the remaining mid scalp & crown. Which doctor you going to? 3500-4K grafts is kind of a lot, I’m curious what they said about shock loss of your existing hair. Even though it’s miniaturizing, i know a guy like Dr. Konior wouldn’t graft at high densities for your case. Meaning you’d have to return once your native hairs fall out and do a second pass.. but then there’s other clinics willing to blow through that entire thinning area and dense pack. Thanks I agree with the front to midscalp done and do the mid to crown in a year or so. I like that idea of a two step approach always for cases like yours. You are a Norwood 5A. Whos the Dr? Wibtransplant
Im going to Yaman in Turkey. Shock loss is something I asked about and it was according to them not going to be a problem. But I am afraid of this cause it do seem to happen. I got a offer from Dr Turan in Turkey aswell who would do 2000-2500 grafts in frontal and 1500 in mid scalp/crown region. Soit make more sense to have the doctor do 2000-3000 grafts for the front and then be coming back in a year or so. To avoid shock loss of my native hair as good as possible? Its good that you been on Finasteride for a year, it strenghtens your hair and you have less risk of getting shock loss in the transplanted area. I would say go for the front part as you said and wait with the crown area.
