My Hair Restoration Journey @ Eugenix

Hello Everyone,

I'm all excited to share my hair restoration journey here, so let's begin :

Background

I started experiencing hair loss at the age of 25 and my hairline started to recede in the subsequent years along with considerable thinning in the crown area. I’m 28 years old now and I feel my look has changed to an extent that every time I happen to meet some of my friends from college, I can’t help but notice how they look more or less the same while I look much older. Despite doing a fair amount of research, I had always been quite wary of hair transplant procedures owing to the lack of clinics which can deliver quality results. All that was about to change as coincidentally enough, I started working at Eugenix Hair Sciences in 2020.

Why I chose Eugenix

I got the opportunity to be a part of their customer relationship department where I could witness hair loss concerns of patients from all over the world. Being involved with Eugenix’s operations, I realized how important it is for a patient to choose the right doctor and therefore the right clinic for a hair transplant to be successful. What further cemented my trust and confidence in Eugenix was the fact that a sizable number of patients have been choosing Eugenix for correcting their previous hair transplants which were'nt done right by other clinics.

Medication

Having realized how MPB is progressive in nature, I decided to put myself on finasteride (1 mg) support eight months back. Though initially I felt that it wasn’t helping much, I soon noticed how it was able to arrest the progression of my baldness. My hair fall had stopped and the thinning in my crown has also reduced.

Pre-Procedure

My procedure is scheduled with Dr Arika Bansal and I couldn’t have been more excited about it. I have been given an estimate of 2200-2500 grafts and below are my pre-procedure pictures. I shall be updating you guys about the entire planning, designing & DHT procedure on my surgery day.

Surgery Day

My procedure started late in the evening. The plan was to do the slits in the evening and proceed with the extraction & implantation the next day:

Step 1: Slit Creation

Step 2: Deliberate Delay [12 hours]

Step 3 & 4: Simultaneous Extraction & Implantation

Dr Arika Bansal explained how there was an advantage to making recipient area slits before the grafts were harvested & also delaying the extraction to allow the recipient site healing process to proceed and increase graft survival.

The intra-op counsellor explained me the SOP and I was taken for the photo session. Dr Arika Bansal drew a hairline which suited my facial features and explained the technicalities involved in designing the hairline. She patiently answered all my questions. Later I was taken to the OT room where my procedure was to go live on social media. It was only the second time that Eugenix had decided to perform a procedure live, the first one being Melvin’s.

The doctor made all the slits. I was explained each and every step of the procedure right from giving anesthesia to the number of slits. The OT team, just like I thought, was very caring and everyone knew their role which resulted in great coordination. I kept on talking and discussing things with the doctor and the technicians while they answered me patiently. 2190 slits were done by around night time. On the second day, I reached the clinic by 9 AM. The extraction & implantation was done simultaneously with utmost care and super finesse. The whole process was flawless. There wasn’t a single moment where I felt disconnected with the team in OT. A total of 1822 grafts were done for my hairline, frontal scalp along with 148 & 220 grafts for my right & left temple points respectively. Personally, I’m so glad to be a part of Eugenix and now hoping for natural looking hair. I shall keep you guys updated with photos.

Thanks for posting. You said that that it is preferable to do the slits the day before. Can you explain further---is it that the inflammation is less? Also, it looks like you focused on hairline. Did you discuss the crown? Are you hoping that meds will address that thinning? If you did discuss, how many grafts would be necessary to address? Is that Phase 2? Happy growing.
