Rapid Hair Thinning

Hey guys - Im new to this. I am a 24 year old male who's hair has been thinking very very rapidly. I noticed my hair receeding a bit in June of 08, but I still had a pretty thick head of hair. I then got a haircut early Nov of 08. The stylist cut it pretty short and I could notice my receeding hairline, but could not notice the thinning. It has been just over 2 months since that haircut. I had to get the sides cut twice before I go the top cut once. Its like my hair stopped growing. And it has thinned to a dramatic level where I can see my scalp. The other night I shook my hair and lost probably 200 hairs. Is this a normal acceleration of male pattern baldness? If so i feel as if i'll go from thick hair to bald in 3 months. Any help?

ajeter10,

It sounds like typical male pattern baldness. Most likely, you were thinning before, but only just noticed it recently. It typically takes about 50% hair loss in an area before noticing visual signs of hair loss.

To be sure, you may want to consult with dermatologist. If your hair loss is genetic, you may want to consider getting on Propecia as soon as possible to possibly prevent it from progressing further.

Best wishes,

Bill
