royals87
Hello everyone, I’m starting to think I instead have a norwood 2A pattern (anterior). There’s not many good references on the web to really find that out so I im wondering what your assessment is. My hairline and temples are receded, but I do not have a widows peak. My hairline does not touch the highest forehead wrinkle/crease at all. I definitely have a higher hairline and bigger forehead than normal, especially when you compare to a NW 1 or 2, but my temples aren’t NW3 level yet. I am 22 years old. If you notice in the pictures, my hairline is above my highest wrinkle/crease. The photo with my hand on my head shows how little hair is visible on my head from the front view. what do you think? Senior Member LaserCaps Posted November 11, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted November 11, 2021 This reminds me of a song, "In Oklahoma, or Arizona...What does it matter....." Regardless 2, 2A, 3...You are at the initial stages of hair loss or perhaps a bit more advanced than you think. The key here is to understand you are dealing with a genetic condition and, if you've lost, this will continue. Getting on some type of medical regimen, if the hair loss is bothering you, is HUGE. I feel most NW 2 you can still see the frontal hairlines close to the top crease/wrinkle, and see a clear triangle/V shape from the front. mine starts above that highest wrinkle and see no V shape from a front view. You are indeed a NW2, perhaps on your way to a 3 if you really wanted to argue that. Meds will stop the progression and then you can re-evaluate how you feel in 5 years or so and have a relatively small procedure to get you to where you would like to be if needed. For now, you're a bit too young and you need to address the cause of MPB, but I think you'll most likely be a good candidate when you're closer to 30 than 20. What sets me as on my way to a NW 3? so then my hairline isn’t maturing right? it’s receding?

Considering the way you asked......I guess the nomenclature depends on your age. If young, like you, maturing and recession are exactly the same. For an older individual, depending on the degree of recession - we would no longer call it "maturing the hairline." It would be more like receding temporal areas with deep recession, for example. I am not sure, however, what difference this makes. The fact is, it is happening and it will continue. Start thinking of some type of medical regimen to help you with retention. Can you photo your entire head, (no hand)? It'll be interesting to see if you are thinning elsewhere as well. Patient Consultant for Dr. Arocha at Arocha Hair Restoration. I said perhaps you are on your way if you want to argue that as you seemed to be saying to the other poster that you were worse than he was saying. But I do think you're probably heading there regardless as yeah, I think it's more likely receding than just maturation that will stop. Your hairline looks to be heading into more of a U shape than a V shape in my opinion. Could be wrong though, and you're a NW2 for now. Just keep an eye on it and if it worsens, hop on meds if you want to halt progression (I think you should probably do so now before it gets worse, but that's up to you). Senior Member BLE123 Posted November 13, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted November 13, 2021 You're NW2-2.5, forehead size and hairline height aren't really relevant when gauging norwood level.
