He is a NW 6 pattern with a family history of the same. His donor area is moderately good with a good calibre. We did around 3398 grafts for both the frontal and midscalp zones to add definition and density. He is a very reasonable gentleman in terms of not wishing to pursue the crown at this stage. Photos were taken at around 8 months from surgery. Patient placed on finasteride 1 mg on alternate days. Surgical details: FUE 0.8 mm punch Hairline 427 refined single hairs 2971 multiple grafts Average of 2.19 hairs/graft. Sites made using 0.8 mm and 1.4 mm Sapphire blades. In some younger patients, you’d rather save the grafts that could go into the crown for any future loss or for “higher priority” areas. The crown expands outwards too, so if it is transplanted before reaching its full loss, you end up with a halo like thinning around the borders and that doesn’t look natural.
