Senior Member T95good Posted January 18, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2021 I would like to cut my hair with clippers and would like to know when it is safe to use clippers (with a guard) on recipient area?
Senior Member Westview Posted January 18, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2021 After 2 to 3 weeks you should be fine. The grafts are buried secure deep into your scalp and cannot be pulled out
Senior Member ciaus Posted January 18, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2021 Agree 2 weeks, if you want to be extra careful 3 weeks.

Senior Member Britanium Posted January 18, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2021 After 2 weeks is the most common advice from most clinics. I have always waited about 3 personally. Did they mean Wet shaving 🪒 ? As thats usually after 3 months.
Senior Member gillenator Posted January 18, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2021 Complete healing of the epidermis (outer layer) of the scalp is important before using the clippers....and you also want to make sure the clippers are not dull to minimize any tension on the hair while its being cut. 1 1 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Senior Member T95good Posted January 19, 2021 Author Senior Member Share Posted January 19, 2021 How can I tell when the epidermis is completely healed?
Senior Member ciaus Posted January 19, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted January 19, 2021 52 minutes ago, T95good said: How can I tell when the epidermis is completely healed? Just visually inspect your skin in the transplant areas, make sure there's no swelling, sores, bleeding. And its normal to have some fading redness for anywhere from a week up to a few months depending on your skin type -and even if it does last up to a few months you can still get your hair cut on week 2 or 3. By the end of your second week the last of your scabs should have fallen off or come off during your shampooing (you can go ahead and scrub any remaining ones off if they are still hanging around by then)
