Everything continues to come along nicely i think. My hair is getting longer now though so have a decide do I just keep letting it grow or do a DIY job to bring it back to a buzz cut (barbers are still shut here in the lockdown). I have my second surgery booked in for the second week in May, its not far away now and I'm really looking forward to it, hopefully covid doesn't throw a spanner in the works. The first 4 photos are with the hair combed forward. Pretty incredible given the time frame. Excited to see you progress even more 👏🏼 2 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. Huncholini
Very interested to see where this goes, indeed looks quite good for 4 months, especially at the front. There is a bare patch in the mid-scalp though, looks like hardly any growth there. That being said, it's only 4 months and the best is yet to come. You look on your way to a satisfying result!
Raphael84
@Bailey99 Another great month of improvement since your last update. To look back and consider your starting point and working throughout your recipient area that was essentially almost zero density, to where you are with this update at 19 weeks, is very positive. It is one thing to restore a hairline/frontal zone that may have the support of native hair behind that will reinforce and add depth to a transplanted area. Building density without the support of native hair over a larger area is quite a different scenario, and so at this early stage where some patients may only be seeing the initial signs of growth, you are quite advanced and looking great. It is normal to see that not all 4203 grafts transitioned from the telogen (resting) stage to the anagen (growth) stage in the same moment. This is why some areas may appear more advanced than others, and you have the slower area in the mid scalp. Even as this mid scalp area improves over the next months, the more advanced areas will also improve so oftentimes this difference may not "catch up" until the latter stages of your growth timeline. In many patients, beard hair represents predominantly single hair grafts. To have an almost 50% ratio of single hair to multiple hair beard grafts is impressive. As always, Im looking forward to the next months. 1 Patient Advisor for Dr. Bisanga - BHR Clinic ian@bhrclinic.com - BHR YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcH4PY1OxoYFwSDKzAkZRww I am not a medical professional and my words should not be taken as medical advice. Regular Member Bailey99 Posted April 24, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 24, 2021 5 and a half months in now. I buzzed the hair down to a 3 blade last week so it's difficult to see if there has been much progress from the last month. Outside photos this time seeing as we have unusually good weather in Ireland at the moment. Also due to the Covid situation in Europe my scheduled second procedure in May could not go ahead. Thankfully BHR have been able to re-arrange a new date for me in June.

Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted April 25, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted April 25, 2021 That's really coming along and looks very soft and natural. Especially considering the use of beard grafts. A great job and I look forward to further updates. Raphael84
Thanks for the update @Bailey99 Really good honest photos that are very transparent and present great value. Outside direct sun light and as Melvin said, your current length can be the most challenging post HT as it is neither short/shaven or does not have the benefit of length to assist the illusion of density, especially in these early months, but the yield is evident. With improvement in density and structure over the next months and with a little more length, things will continue to evolve nicely. 3 1 Patient Advisor for Dr. Bisanga - BHR Clinic ian@bhrclinic.com - BHR YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcH4PY1OxoYFwSDKzAkZRww I am not a medical professional and my words should not be taken as medical advice. Regular Member Bailey99 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 27, 2021 Hey all, sorry been very busy with work, the 6 months has flown by. Latest pics attached. I can't notice much difference from a month or so ago when looking at the photos but do see it when looking straight on in a mirror. Very happy with the progress, it will be interesting to see how it finishes out. Considering my starting point, my main goal was coverage, a bit of density would be a bonus. My planned surgery in May couldn't go ahead die to Covid but I have another slot pencilled in for this day two weeks. So far everything looks to be going to plan even if its not straight forward - No direct flights between Ireland and Belgium so have to fly to England from Belfast and then get the Eurostar on from there.
Raphael84
@Bailey99 Thanks as always for the update. Comparing your photos shared one month ago to this current update, I would suggest that there has been further evolution. Obviously the difference in lighting as photos being indoor v outdoor can have a dramatic affect and slightly longer hair in these more recent photos will play into your favour as was previously discussed, but side by side things appear to have improved. Still a good way to go and 6 months generally represents around 40-60% in terms of growth. Dr. Bisanga is very much looking forward to seeing you again shortly and is excited for your further progress. 2 1 Patient Advisor for Dr. Bisanga - BHR Clinic ian@bhrclinic.com - BHR YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcH4PY1OxoYFwSDKzAkZRww I am not a medical professional and my words should not be taken as medical advice. Huncholini
From the front it looks great, from the top it looks ok for now, I look forward to seeing that mid scalp region thicken up over the next few months. Thanks for the update! How are you going to take the Eurostar into Belgium btw? As far as I know you can't go to Belgium from London unless it's for essential travel, does a hair transplant fall under that category?

Regular Member Bailey99 Posted June 14, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 14, 2021 Hi all, Update, thankfully I did make it over to Brussels last week for my second procedure with Dr Bisanga and his team. In total 3300 graphs made up of 2300 from scalp and 1000 beard. Breakdown as follows: Scalp Ones = 231 Twos = 1013 Threes = 934 Fours = 122 Beard Ones = 813 Twos = 187 Had a pre op consultation on Wednesday where Dr Bisanga was able to examine in detail how the first procedure was progressing and make a detailed plan for the second. The second procedure is to tackle the crown but we agreed that some of the mid scalp could be further reinforced. Head was then shaved and photos taken. The good news was that the density of the donor was the same at the sides but had improved at the back since the first procedure (fin must be working). I was then back in the clinic on Thursday and Friday for the procedure, neither were full days which left things more comfortable. Early days with only being on day 3 post surgery but everything going as expected so far. The beard is also healing well like last time. I will give another update in two weeks. Photos attached.

On your first procedure it seems like you did not have full growth of grafts. With 3000 grafts your frontal part shoud be much better than this, so you did no get maximum survival rate. I hope your second procedure goes better than your first one. Good luck with your second procedure mate. Edited June 14, 2021 by GUCCI

My aim starting as a NW 6/7 was get a good hairline and have coverage behind that. If the second procedure goes similar I should have that and any density behind the hairline would be a bonus and exceed my expectations going into this. You are correct I likely did not have full growth rate of grafts but again I'm only 7 months post procedure 1 so it is still early days.

Yes of course you did not have full survival rate. Most people get their max growth until month 7, after this month the hair just get thicker. What did the doc say about the result of the first procedure? How much money did u pay per graft? Edited June 14, 2021 by GUCCI

Like me he was happy with result so far. This was the starting point, where the goal was a good hairline and maximise coverage with 2 procedures always planned. This is approx 12 days post the first procedure 6 months post procedure 1 To me the two week photo shows two definite areas where the grafts are sparser - my right side and also a smaller area in the centre just behind the hairline. Going on the 6 month photo I think that area in the centre can still be seen but I'm honestly delighted with how it has gone.
