2500 FUE Dr. Jerry Wong

Hey everybody. Hope y’all are doing well in COVID-19 times.

So I went ahead and did a hair transplant. Thought I’d post my results as the months go along. I lurked this forum for a while before deciding to get my scalp harvested. I  appreciated the honest feedback/recommendations here so I thought I’d make a post so others with similar level of baldness/hair type can get an idea of what to expect with the # of grafts I got. I’ll update as things progress.

Details:

-31 years old

-Had the surgery on 17/08/2020

- Started finasteride 8 months before FUE. Seemed to slow things down as I was losing a shit-ton of hair before starting it and ... that stopped once I started. (Still taking it, not using min or Nizoral... fin seems to have had the opposite effect that a lot of guys report. Dunno why but that’s neither here nor there.)

- not using hair concealer

Photos aren’t the greatest. I’m taking photos under the harshest light I can find in the moment. I’ll post photos from the clinic if/when I receive them!

If anyone has questions about the clinic, procedure, aftermath, whatever, I’m happy to answer. I was pretty freaked out before I did the deed, and am still pretty anxious (but hopeful) about the end result. Take care errybody!

Pre-transplant, taken the morning of the surgery:

Looks very similar to my progress and hair loss pattern. Everyone is different, but I looked pretty bad until about day 100.  After that it’s SLOWLY started to grow in.  I’m at about day 135 now and I can say that I now officially look better than before the HT.  Growth is still slow but starting to fill in.  Good luck!

Thanks for the insight bro! Glad to hear you’re making good progress. Would love to see if you can post a link.

I am optimistic that I will be able to feel comfortable going out w/out a hat in 3-4 months. Fortunately I can stay capped for work right now, but it isn’t the most comfortable.

Shaving my head/seeing these photos definitely reveals just how much hair I have lost!  Real eye-opener. My curly hair definitely conceals just how mad bald I am hahaha

you have great hair characteristics. I would think this will be a great result. donor looks pristine as always from H&W.

good luck with growing. where are you from?

Thanks bud!

I am currently living in Vancouver so H&W was first choice just cause of convenience. Was surprised to learn that there was an esteemed clinic right in my backyard!

lucky. I'm waiting for the border to re-open between US and Canada.. been rescheduled multiple times now with H&W :(

Aw :(. Sorry to hear that bro. Where you at? When were you originally scheduled for?

It’s hard to get a read on when the border will reopen. Most Canadians are fervently anti-reopening so I can’t see it happening any time soon. I don’t think there will be much difference between the Covid numbers here vs USA per capita. We’ve kinda reopened most things and are crossing our fingers as numbers rise. I foresee another lockdown around November.

This really is the shits, for everybody. Hope that we get this bastard under control soon so people can stay outta the ICU and you can venture up here for your surgery!

Awesome write-up most of the FUE work I’ve seen has come from Dr. Hasson, it’s great to see Dr. Wong doing clean and refined FUE. You’ve chosen an excellent surgeon/clinic. I’ll be following your progress closely. Happy growing 🙂

Work looks very good! Donor area looks great. You chose a elite Dr. This is going to turn out fantastic.

Hope so!

Re: donor area. All the extractions were done by Dr. Wong’s assistant so gotta give her the credit there. Very chill Romanian woman, was very patient with me while I drooled in her lap, passed out a few times and breathed through my mouth. (Side note: eat a big breakfast folks! That tiny 2.5 mg Valium wouldn’t do shit for me on a normal day, but taking it at 7 AM on a relatively empty stomach fucked me up!)

One thing I rly admired about Dr. Wong is that he consulted w/ his assistants thoroughly, asked them for their opinions, took them seriously. There was really no ego there. Seemed like a lot of trust between the team members and that they just wanted to do a good job together!

Hey hair transplant bros, gals and non-binary friends. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and cheers!

I apologize for taking so damn long to update. Past few months have been very busy.

sadly, I am not where I hoped to be at this point re: hair growth. However, I will continue to be patient and remain optimistic. (I am, admittedly, very nervous at this point.)

Lots of new hairs popping up, though, and lots of new zits! Weird to be happy about pimples on my head, but that is where we’re at hahaha. Even if I have a poor yield, I gotta say, I am very happy with how dr. Wong and co Implanted the hairs. Love the hairline, and at least everything is growing in the right direction.

Cheers to all of y’all, and hope you are all doing well in these crazy ass times. If things are not going well, please PM me. I have a bit more free time to pay close attention to my inbox and we all gotta look out for one another right now.

Congrats, looks like great work.

How long was the waiting list?

Not long at all, actually!

I went to the clinic pre-pandemic, in January. I signed up for the surgery in February, and the gentleman I consulted with offered me an spot in March. I told them I wanted to do during the summer and they had lots of availability (but they also weren’t taking international patients at the time.)

I am local Vancouver resident though, so that may have something to do with it.

cheers bro!

Like your positive attitude.

This is the hardest time and everyone is very anxious during this stage. Man, I was so anxious when growth was one month delayed in my second compared to my first surgery. But you are not even at month 5 yet. Plenty of time left 🙂 Enjoy the Christmas/new years break, do not look in the mirror all day long...in a couple of weeks it will look much better.

Thanks for the wisdom and encouragement! :)  I haven't been dwelling on it. The worst that could happen is a lot worse than the worst that could happen, when factoring in all things. Hahaha

It just gets worse before it gets better. Everyone tells you that but nobody can fully prepare.  It’ll look great in a few months.

I feel like this is very true!

You are just about a week over 4 months and your growth has started. If you take pictures each month now you should start to see noticeable differences in terms of growth. 4 months is where growth is normally known to start. Looking forward to future updates.
