Regular Member dwh Posted April 15, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted April 15, 2020 Hi everyone, I am thinking of having a hair transplant at the age of 50 but I am a little confused. I have a complete bald head, probably NW5. My question, is having a hair transplant on a complete bald head going to look natural.

That’s what you could expect, and it looks quite natural in my opinion. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. LonelyGraft
It definitely can if you go to the right surgeon and get good yield. You’ll need to adjust your expectations likely in terms of density and height of hairline depending on your donor. You’ll also likely need at least two procedures in order to get coverage from front to back.
Senior Member kirkland Posted April 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2020 Your hairloss pattern is almost exactly like mine (NW5 with high sides) but I have a bit more left in the crown. After years of researching, I can definitely say that you can get a good result but that it will likely take more than one surgery, depending on your ultimate goal.
Senior Member Zoomster Posted April 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2020 Hi Dwh I was at a very similar starting point to you... You're a NW 6.. Myself 6/7 Conversely an advanced stage hairloss guy like yourself is actually less likely to require a second surgery IF you go the right surgeon and commit to taking finasteride to ensure your high sides remain intact. What I mean by less likely to need a second procedure is that you've pretty much lost any DHT sensitive hairs already... Therefore a properly executed HT by a clinic who specialises in large Mega Sessions can absolutely give you a life changing result.. In one pass After 7 years researching and taking my time I had my HT with Eugenix last Dec as this Clinics speciality is restoring guys just like us. My thread "7000 grafts Eugenix 21/23 Dec 19".. I suggest you have a look. 5400 scalp grafts 1400 Beard to Scalp were used and I'm thrilled how things have gone so far... I'll be updating with my 4 month progress next Thursday Any questions.. Please ask Good lúck Z
Senior Member paddyirishman Posted April 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 15, 2020 @dwh all the above guys gave you good advice. Don't let your age put you off either, it's never to late. I am in my 50s and I had a HT recently . You probably need 6000 to 7000 grafts for good coverage . @Zoomster made good use of beard grafts , and I did as well. Beard grafts are thicker than scalp hair and would help with achieving coverage for you . This strategy would take the pressure off having a great supply of scalp doner so to speak . Your a high norwood so this would be the way to go imo . Beard grafts are implanted into the mid scalp back and would blend in very well with your scalp hair. The most important thing is to not rush and take your time, do plenty of research , gain as much knowledge about doctors and clinics recommended here . It will change your appearance for the better when you get it right, and change your appearance for the worst if you get it wrong. All the best, Paddy

Senior Member gillenator Posted April 17, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 17, 2020 Depending on your goals including degree of density...be prepared to have several sessions to optimize yield and coverage. Definitely have your entire donor sources evaluated in person before making any commitment. 1 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Senior Member Future Hair Doc Posted April 17, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) It depends. How is your donor area? Judging from that 1 picture, I think you can get great results depending on which surgeon you go with Edited April 20, 2020 by Dr. Suhail Khokhar 1 My advice does not constitute a patient-physician relationship nor as medical advice and all medical questions/concerns should be addressed to your medical provider. Senior Member gillenator Posted April 21, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 21, 2020 Only a physical examination and evaluation of the donor zones will determine your potential for coverage.
