Senior Member tesla007 Posted March 7, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted March 7, 2020 Hi, I experienced few pimples after about 3 months of the procedure. Had a prp done and then they increased, only in the transplanted area though. Is this normal?
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted March 7, 2020 Administrators Share Posted March 7, 2020 Yes, Pimples after a hair transplant are normal, they're ingrown hairs. The hairs that were transplanted are now trying to sprout, it's a good sign. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. Dr. Glenn Charles
Usually does happen around 3-4 months post-op. If it is only a few scattered pimples they usually go away in just a few days with proper care. I tell patients if they are getting a bunch all in the same area and there is a general redness around it then they may need to be placed on an antibiotic. I recommend going back to clinic where you had the procedure or at least contact the doctor and send photos. 1 Dr. Glenn Charles is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians
Senior Member pkipling Posted March 13, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted March 13, 2020 As mentioned above, it's completely normal. I was advised by Dr. Mohebi not to pop them and to come into the office if I had any I needed them to safely pop for me - but of course I couldn't resist and did it myself anyway. If you do feel compelled to do that, make sure your hands are clean/sterile to prevent bacteria and infection... But again... Don't do it. I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
