Help and advice required. Who to Choose. TIA.

Recommended Posts

Hi All.

I’m recently new to the group and I’d like to say they’re looks to be some fantastic results out there, I’m amazed at some of the work you guys have had done.

That leads me to to my question. A lot of you seem to be absolute experts on HT and I’m just learning and picking up everything I can from what I read. I’d like some advice if any of you would be kind enough to help??!

I’m looking at getting a HT done in the next few months and I’m obviously wanting to know what I can expect, I’ve looked at many of your stories and tried to fine someone as close as I can to the same hair type and loss as myself. I’ve also been in touch with 2 of the more common Drs in Turkey ( spoke persons ) and had 2 slightly different answers. 1 has come back to me saying my donor area is not too good and I’ll probably have to look at some body hair extraction and the other has said I have a good donor area, now I know it’s hard to be exact just by looking at photos sent via WhatsApp and they have both had the same photos what are your thoughts???

Also....

Who do I go with ?!

A good friend of mine recently came back from Turkey and using Dr Acar and spoke very highly about his full experience so initially I thought that’s the clinic for me but after looking and reading lots of your stories on here I’ve contacted Dr Cinik and found he’s slightly cheaper ( not a cost issue ) and that’s the one saying I have a pretty good donor area.

I’ve attached some photos, some with shorter hair then some slightly longer.

I would really appreciate any advice if anyone could take the time to reply to me.

TIA

Paul

@Pauls Doctor Acar and Doctor Cinik were partners and operated together, so Cinik opened his clinic, you must know that they are both low cost clinics, so if you choose one of the two you must be aware of the risks you can have, that is, the procedure is not  performed entirely by them personally but they make use of more or less experienced teams, that is, you can have the good one but the less good one can also do it, the low-cost clinics focus more on quantity than on quality.  I tell you that two and a half months ago I visited Dr. Cinik's clinic. From the third photo your donor area does not seem so scarce to me.

Your donor density looks average and hair type towards the finer end of the scale.  Also, it looks like the crown is starting to thin a bit and currently you're around NW5.

I'd suggest a top doctor and not some hack in Turkey who will annihilate the donor area.  You should get them to start with 2500 grafts max and a conservative hairline.  If all goes well you can go back again for another 1500-2000 nearer the crown.

Suggest Konior, Nadimi, Gabel, Bisanga, Shapiro, Cooley, Hasson / Wong etc.

4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013

1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018

763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020

Proscar 1.25mg Mon/Wed/Fri.

Hi Egy.

thanks for your reply, when you say you visited Dr Cinik, did you have a HT
I know you’re saying be aware of the risks but I guess there is always a risk and I’ve heard nothing but good reviews throughout.

@Pauls Yes, ..... I performed my procedure at Dr. Cinik's clinic in mid-October last year, my budget was not high and for this reason I had to look for what seemed to be the best among the low cost.  As you say Cinik has many positive reviews, but I have seen other negative ones on other forums, so I am aware that in hair transplantation it also takes a lot of ass, now I wait three months crossing my fingers and I will update my thread.

Yeah unfortunately it is not as cheap as turkey but as someone pointed out to me recently over private message: "you end up paying anyway, when it goes wrong and has to be corrected by a top doctor".

To be honest you can often get a better result with a top doc for 2000 grafts for a little more than the same cost as 5000 in turkey.  Hairlines in Turkey often end up being too aggressive and unnatural as well.

Maybe have a look at Mike Vories who's nearer $5 a graft I think.

Hi Matt.

i totally get where you’re coming from but the biggest thing is I’m in the UK, so going to the US for a HT is a big price in itself.

@Pauls forgive me but I'm not able to post the link, but if you put "Cinik" on "search" on the forum you will find all the procedures of the Cinik clinic including mine

I think you need to spend a little more time researching, you mentioned that you just started researching and are already planning a procedure in a few months. The biggest mistake guys make is rushing in to a procedure. Spend some time on the forum, there are a lot of knowledgeable guys here, and don't hesitate to contact me if you need help, that's what I am here for.

Hi Melvin

To be honest this is something I’ve wanted done for many years but I always thought it was out of my league regarding the cost issues. I had a consultation about 8 years ago and quoted around 8-10k but I was under the impression it would end up been a endless pot of money, it’s only come to light and seems more realistic to me after talking with my friend who had a procedure done in Turkey and also reading various stories, watching YouTube stories etc. I recently had a consultation at  one of the uk leading establishments and it basically seems I can get the same thing done in Turkey for a fraction of the cost. I’m not as such rushing in to anything and I’m not set to any specific time hence why I’m trying to find out as much information as I can, it’s great you guys are taking the timeout to reply to my original post.

@Pauls What Melvin says is true, you must not be in a hurry to have a transplant, it is not a joke but a surgery and the consequences are not a walk at all but very tiring.  In my first procedure I was wrong because I decided to do the transplant within two months, without documenting myself enough, I don't know this forum, so the advice you have is to study this forum well and see how many other possibilities it indicates that you have approached the initial situation  .  Not all forums are as ethical as HRN, he thinks that in Europe there are some that are paid by the clinics to promote them, and even worse, they eliminate the reports of users to whom the transplant has become bad, ignore the sites of the clinics because they only publish  successful relationships.

Hi

Dr Abhinav Kumar

Firstly thanks for your reply and giving your advice and secondly I’m 41, “ wish I was in my early 30s “ 👍🏼

I don’t know if this helps or changes anything but I’ve been losing my hair slowly for about 15 years, started off reseeding and then eventually thinning and here I am. I didn’t really want to go down the route of having the FUT treatment and them take a strip from the back of my head but I do appreciate you know better than I do. I was hoping also unless I really had to not to have anything taken from my beard, just to let you know when you say different colour I dye my beard about every 3 weeks and on the photos I’d not trimmed for a few weeks if that’s what you mean. I have started recently on the advice of a specialist HT in the UK to take finasteride to see if it helps with the density, they advised that prior to having FUE treatment.

When all said and done I guess there’s risks with which ever route I take whether I pay 15k or 5k and in all honesty the cost does come in to consideration for me within reason, hence why I’m now seeing this a more realistic thing for me unlike I did a few years ago.

Hi Egy

I had a look at your story and good luck with everything, I will keep following it.

Yes I know where you are coming from and that’s exactly what I will be doing, getting as much information as I can. I’ve got nothing booked at the moment and it will be at least the summer time before I do anything. I did want to get to 6 months with the finasteride and see how I go with that.

Good idea, although my opinion 6 months is a short time to start seeing the effects of finasteride.

I know what you’re saying but I’ll see what happens, hopefully I won’t come across any of the nasty side affects that I’ve read about.

Just as a matter of interest, what shampoos do you use and can you recommend anything good to start on? I’ve been using Alpecin for about 15 years but I can’t say it makes any difference “obviously “

Thanks for reverting. Your dyed hair misguided me in your age. If you are 41 years , your baldness is pretty stable so opting for FUE is not a bad idea either. You can consider going for a conservative FUE with 2500 grafts from scalp ( which seems possible plus 500 scalp )  with a 8cm hairline from the glabella. A hairline decreases the circumference of the hairline thus reducing the graft yield. You will look age appropriate . The 3000 grafts will cover 75 % of your head. Since crown is responsive to propecia. You can give propecia and minoxidil  a try till the results of this HT comes for the crown . Definitely the density would improve. It will change the look totally as frontal 60 to 70% area Is converted. The crown can be tackled in next surgery. This will make your surgery cost effective and will tackle your look issues as well . This will ensure that the best scalp grafts are implanted in the front with minor mixing of beard.

REGARDS

Dr Abhinav Kumar .

Thanks a lot for your input and advice. So you think I could expect some good results then?
when you say I could get my hairline 8cm for the glabella I’m kinda lost and don’t understand what you mean?
what sort of hairline could I expect?

Pauls, I understand you want the best outcome possible for the least amount of money.

I was on the same boat as you but I saved a bit more so I could afford a Doctor that does the whole surgery himself and has great results posted by patients.

My shortlist was: Dr. Kaan Pekiner (2.15€/graft), Dr. Ximena Villa (2,5€/graft) and Dr. Bruno Ferreira (2,5€/graft).

My advice is for you to save up and pick one of these 3 rising stars Doctors.

Dr. Acar and Dr. Cinik are low cost Turkish hairmills in which your results will depend on the underpaid tech team that will do your hair transplant. The mere fact that they provide all inclusive transplant with no limit graft should make any reasonable person run away as fast as they can.

There will always be someone else giving you a cheaper price but I am unaware of any other Doctor doing the whole surgery himself with tons of great patient’s results that is charging less.

For full disclosure and transparency, I have had to hide some responses made from a physician. Apparently, this physician was affiliated with another clinic, and some of the information he has been provided has been brought into question. I need to research this a bit further and speak with the physician and the clinic, until further notice some of his responses that give personal experience information will be hidden.

Best wishes,

Melvin
