Quitting finasteride before hair transplant

i been using finasteride and minoxidil for the past 18 month with decent results. i had some side effects with finasteride for the first couple of month, but they are pretty much gone by now.

Ive been strongly considering a hair transplant, and i have been told by one of the clinics which i am strongly considering that i have to quit minoxidil and finasteride 2 weeks before the transplant. I know i have to quit minoxidil because it's thinning the blood, but i have never heard og read, that you have to quit finasteride.

Is that true?

Hi @Ticarno

Pre operative instructions differ somewhat from clinic to clinic, but I agree that it is unusual to recommend a patient to discontinue finasteride.

Even with oral minoxidil, it is generally fine to continue taking throughout the time of your procedure. Obviously topical applications must be discontinued.

I would suggest asking the clinic the reasoning behind quitting finasteride before surgery. I'm interested to hear their logic.
