Hello,

I had my HT at Asmed clinic in January 2017, 4500 grafts in hairline and vertex. I am not quite satisfied with density of my hair, and also with my hairline. I have sent a few of pictures to Asmed after 6 months, after 11 months and after 12 months, always with question, why my density is weaker. I always got the answear, that my density will increase and I have to wait to the end of 18 months period. After 18 months I have sent them pictures of final result with the question, why my density is weak, and I got the answear, that I need another HT, approximately 2500 grafts. My donor area is about 8500 grafts, and 4500 were used. With the number of 2500 grafts, it will be 7000 grafts, and I am afraid, that 1500 grafts are not enough to cover potential next hairloss. Here are some pictures of my HT, and result. I don´t know what to do, if I have to undergo 2nd HT at Asmed, or if I should try another HT surgeon, or if I should leave it that way? Thank you for every opinion. And sorry about my weaker english.

I'm starting to think that ASMED promises you they'll use i.e. '3000 grafts' - but will only plant 1500 or something way less than what they've advised you.

The clinic seems to be a massive money-grab with a ferocious marketing team behind it. It's becoming more and more prevalent across all patients which have gone to this clinic that there is a lack of density with their transplants, that's one thing that is a common theme at ASMED.

You should definitely consider going to a different surgeon and never go there again. Depending on your budget you should maybe look at some surgeons who specialise in dense packing..

I absolutely agree with Guano, this kind of result is very common at Asmed, don't go back and lose more precious grafts, luckily you have more grafts so you have a second chance to fix things, take your time do more research and choose another surgeon because not many get that 2nd chance, best of luck.

This just keeps happening to the point where it's ridiculous now. This clinic's reputation is taking a huge beating and this is also the case in the non-English forums.

To answer your question, do NOT return to this clinic. Go to a quality surgeon who is more involved. Also, unfortunately no, I don't think you can leave it that way as it looks unnatural. I'm sorry for the stress this must be causing you.

There guys should no longer be recommended anywhere in my opinion. They seem happy to blast through your donor area like no tomorrow with no regard for your wellbeing.

On the bright side, this IS fixable.

Echo what others have said....this is an obviously poor result and there have been far too many justifiably unhappy ASMED patients regularly filtering through.....seemingly even more so when there's lowering of a hairline involved. I'm not a huge fan of massively lowering hairlines but if someone chooses to do it, really do think the surgeon has to be heavily involved in the whole process.

You are quite rightly not happy with the density and so best to look to put it right but as already mentioned, you should look to a surgeon who is heavily involved in the procedure.

I’m so sorry that’s a terrible result using so many grafts just trying to make as much money as possible that’s why they always put more grafts than other clinics...they have an amazing marketing team behind it and they really sell it very well until now I think more and more bad results come out people will wake up...just do your research and find a doctor who does all the work himself

I think the first problem here is how aggressive they allowed you to go on lowering the hairline.   Very difficult to lower a hairline that much and look natural.   They set you up for failure.

Thanks for your opinions, guys. When I started to look for a HT surgeon in 2016, it was hard to find bad review of Asmed. Now is not problem to find bad reviews and there are more and more others. In 2017 there were 2 guys with me and both have great results of their hair. I don´t know why my result is so weak. First problem is the result. But the second problem is the clinic's approach to the result. I expected them to invite me to fix the result for free with maybe 800 - 1000 grafts (after seeing the result) and I was suprised when they wrote me, that I need another 2500 grafts for 6.250,- Eur. Can you advise me some good surgeon for dense packing? Thank you for every opinion and advice.

Keser is well known for dense packing. 3.5 euro per graft. H&W , Lorenzo, Couto, Konior etc. Many competent clinics exist and many of those probably have experience sorting out the messes that ASMED now produce.

And yes, you are right, it is frankly criminal that they were asking for more money to fix this. Absolutely disgusting in fact.

I honestly don't understand how these can still be recommend here.

This is why I'm so paranoid to go for a HT! I've been in contact with 30 clinics! I've read good and bad news about them all! They are all very eager for you to come.. And all make promises of restoring a natural look. But it's such a huge risk. Some posts I see here look great.. They posts clinics post on their social media pages looks amazing. I've been advised from 1500 to 5000 grafts! That's a massive difference. It's really difficult. Seems to be a real gamble. Sadly.

There are a few doctors in Europe who produce great results with consistency such as Lorenzo,Freitas, couto, keser ,kaan pekiner, hlc and they all do most of work themselves

I had mine done at Asmed in March. So far  at 7 months I’m happy though I’m definitely hoping for some improvement the next 5 months.

Just realize that everybody’s body is different and will react differently to a hair transplant.  Even the best doctors have bad transplants.   It also come down to cost.  If you have a lot of money, then there is no reason to go to a place like ASMED but rather a more high end surgeon that will do most the surgery himself or at least in the room with the technicians for most of it.  But ASMED was less than half than what I would have paid for a top doctor in the US which made it much easier for me to commit

You have to have realistic expectations and not try to get too aggressive.

Doing a transplant without committing to taking finasteride for most your life is also a mistake   If you can’t commit to the drug, then I wouldn’t commit to a transplant

You didn’t do enough research that’s why u committed to asmed...if u did u could have found other surgeons in Europe doing the whole procedure or most of it themselves with less grafts that u did in asmed preventing your donor area

Thank you very much for your advices. I was searching for HT surgeons in 2016. In 2016 there were a lot of positive reviews and almost no negative reviews of Asmed. Now is the situation different. Also Asmed was (and still is) recomended by this forum and this webpage and I had a good air connection to the Istanbul and back, only 2 hours flight from the airport 30 km from my hometown. That was the reasons why I choosed Asmed.

I would avoid. Go to a more reknown/reputable clinic. If it really is a must to try and keep cost down and you want to go to Turkey, then you should look at Dr Keser.

Clearly that result needs repair but please be careful. i can understand what your goin through as my situation is shit as well.  I really think you need to get consults from a few more docs before you decide just to get an idea on what the common treatment plan may be.  Its frustrating and very sorry to see you goin through this.  Best wishes and i hope you get it resolved based on your original treatment goals.

I know some people will vehemently disagree with me on this, but when it comes to something like a HT, see the best and make sure the best are the ones who will actually perform the surgery. If you don't have the $ for that, save, you will thank yourself in long run.

In 2016, when I started searching for HT surgeon, ASMED has very good reputation and it was hard to find bad review of this clinic and it was (and still is) recomended by this forum. Also their results were very impressive. Both guys, who were with me, have also very good results.

Thank you for advices of good repair surgeons for HT (Couto, Lorenzo, Keser, Freitas, Pekiner, HLC, Hasson & Wong). I have seen more results of these surgeons. The best results have Hasson & Wong and Couto. Hasson & Wong clinic is too far for me. Dr. Couto has very impressive work on Instagram, but his website is only in spanish language and I have read that he is completely booked till 2023. On this forum are just a few of results of this surgeons and clinics (except Hasson & Wong). Also Dr. Keser has very nice work, but his website is problematic and almost in all items of his website is written that " You are not authorised to view this resource" and there is a problem to find more his results. Can I ask you to advice me on what basis do you think these surgeons are best and where can I find the results of their work? What are the current prices of these surgeons? Thank you for your answears.

Hello guys.

I searched for the best doctor for repair HT (1st HT in ASMED, 4500 grafts, very low density in frontal area and terrible shape of hairline + receding vertex). I wrote emails to several doctors and clinics, which I consider the best. The results:

Hasson&Wong, Vancouver Canada: 1000 - 1500 grafts to hairline and recomended finasteride for vertex

HLC, Ankara Turkey: 1400 - 1800 gafts to hairline, 800 - 1000 to vertex, 2,7 eur/graft, including apartman, food, transfers and medical package

Hair of Istanbul, Istanbul Turkey: maximum ammount of grafts, which donor allowed, 5.500,- eur for whole HT, including full service

Dr. Feriduni, Hasel Belgium, 2200 - 3000 grafts (hairline + vertex), 11.374,- - 15246,- eur, without any other services

Dr. Pekiner, Ankara Turkey: ask for video from my current condition, 2,25 eur/graft, transfers included

Dr. Lorenzo, Madrid Spain and Dr.De Freitas, Valencia Spain, asked for personal consultations where they will deside if my donor is suitable for 2nd HT

Dr. Couto, Madrid Spain: asked for personal consultation and offered me schedule of consultation in 2021 and surgery in 2023

Dr. Keser, Ankara Turkey, wrote, that according my previous HT and hair loss pattern, he can´t offer me his services

I excluded Hasson&Wong (too far from me), Dr. Feriduni (too expensive and his work is not so good like f.e. Couto´s) and Hair of Istanbul (perfect results and good price, but they harvest all possible grafts, like tomorrow never come)

The best option seems to be HLC, but I they have published just a few results.

What advice would you give me? Thanks for every opinion.
