Dr Cinik 4720 Grafts Progress

So after 3 previous transplants I was ready for my end game!  My first two were FUT procedures in 2008 and 2009 in Athens which were quite successful at the time but with further recession I went back to the same surgeon now with a clinic in Berlin in 2017 for an FUE procedure and after confusion over payment (they hadn't made it clear they wanted paying in cash and my credit card had a limit less than the agreed price) I only received around two thirds of the amount of grafts I had hoped for.  On reflection I think that surgeon would only offer smaller procedures in hope I would keep coming back for more!

After experiencing thinness around my crown which hadn't been an issue before I decided to research other options and discovered that in Turkey many clinics offer as many grafts as possible for a set price.  After looking at many results on this and other forums I opted to go with Dr Cinik.  I was initially told that due to my depleted donor area I could probably expect 3000 grafts max, but they said they could also use hair under my chin, and I was astounded when half way through the procedure they said they had managed to extract in excess of 4700 grafts!  I think this is more grafts than all 3 of my previous procedures combined!

Everything went exactly to plan and my experience with Dr Cinik was so much better than the previous clinics I had been to, who frankly couldn't get rid of me quick enough and offered no aftercare at all.

Over the last 10 years I have been heavily reliant on hair fibres and nobody that knows me actually knows I am thinning, so it was a big decision for this procedure to take the plunge and shave my hair off (my previous procedures had all been done without having to shave the recipient area), but research told me this was the best way to go and I really didn't want to risk poor results after what's happened before.  I am now over 3 weeks post op and now that the shedding has occurred it is very difficult to conceal things even with fibres, so my social life is currently on hold! 😂  I really do hope that this will be the last time I have to go through this and that I won't need to rely on hair fibres after this one!

Anyways here are some photos thus far and I will post updates as I go along 🙂

So at the 1 month mark and pretty sure all the transplanted hairs have shedded. Got the problem now of trying to use fibres to cover up the thinning but it's so difficult with how short it is so really hope it grows soon... I just hope this will all be worth it in the end?

So at exactly 2 months today and the hairs that were there before the procedure are growing back longer, but as I have thin and not totally bald areas it's difficult to see if there is any activity with the new transplanted hairs yet?  I shaved the sides and lower back of my head down to a grade 2 and now when I apply fibres it's not looking too bad 👌  Photos are all without fibres, some with and some without flash, as the flash certainly makes it look a lot thicker!

Just taken my 3 month photos.  It definitely appears to be thickening up slightly.  Have been getting a fair few pimples over this last month which I guess is a good sign that hairs are starting to push through?  Hoping things will start to really progress over this next month!

Thanks Hair Today,

are you happy thus far?

cheers

Yes happy so far, though looking at other people's results at this point and seeing they have a lot more density is frustrating, but everyone is different so just need to stay patient :)

So today marks 4 months since my procedure so have taken some more photos.  My hair is getting longer so it's much easier to conceal with fibres now, in that respect I'm very similar to how I was beforehand so my hair is much less of a worry for me now :)  The extra length does make it look better compared to last month's photos, but I don't think the density is very much greater yet?

@Hair Today know however that having already had three interventions and therefore with a lot of scar tissue in the recipient, you have to expect a regrowth, which if it goes well, will reach 80%, so do not expect great results, I wish you the best, but  you have to put that into account.

I'd never heard of this before?  So is it true that after every procedure on the recipient in the same places make it more difficult for new hairs to grow there?

sure, the most expert of the forum will be able to confirm it, but know that there are so many microcycles, and under the scars there are no blood vessels, consequently the implanted bulb has difficulty to feed itself, I read so, I have already had  a procedure, however, of what I learned about it after doing the second ht, is the doctor who should have told us.

I think it was 3570 from sides and back of my head and 1150 from my beard, with most of the beard ones being placed on my crown.

Thanks. Could you take some pictures of your beard...would like to know what that looks like now after the donation from that area.

With regards to the back and sides of the head, do you think you could keep your hair short or would it be too obvious and therefore must keep it long?

I'm going to Dr Cinik very soon! Excited yet nervous.  The shape of the donor area and how it looks post recovery is one thing I hope will not be noticeable!

Hi Hairybo no problem just took a couple of photos under different lighting as I've got a little bit of stubble going on right now, I actually prefer my beard being slightly less thick underneath!

I've currently got the sides and back of my head shaved down to a grade 1 (see my 4 month photos) and I don't think there's anything noticeable at all?  I have seen others with the donor looking quite patchy when cut short though so I might be one of the lucky ones?  Though I do need to be careful not to shave it too high or my old FUT scar would definitely be visible!

Good luck with your procedure, you'll be in very good hands with Dr Cinik!  Let me know how it goes :)

Happy New Year all!

At 5 months now and I've definitely seen a lot more progress these last few weeks!  Also rather surprisingly the crown is filling out well already, when this area is supposed to take longer than the rest.  Looking in the mirror it appears to be so much better, but looking at some of the photos (especially without a flash) I can tell I've still got a long way to go!
