@Steeeve hi Steve, thanks for sharing ur story. it looks great. I have a couple of questions: Are you going to do a second HT in the future? Are you taking finasteride?

@Phab Thanks for checking out my thread! I haven’t confirmed it with the clinic yet but I want to go back in June or July to get my crown worked on and have a little bit of work refined in the front.

Ive been on fin since April of 2012 with maybe a little brain fog every now and again but nothing worth being bothered over and no other sides.

Hey everybody! It’s been kind of a hot minute since I’ve really been on the forum and I wanted to pop in with a quick update.

I’m just over 28 months post-op and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve found a really good length for my hair to cover my crown sufficiently while still complimenting the frame of my face.

When I meet new people now I hear a lot of people talking about how nice my hair is. I always play it cool but I’m not going to lie; it makes my heart swell. Lol

Dr. Arocha really did right by me and while I know I’ve said it before I really can’t wait to get back in the chair and get some more hair moved around.

I haven’t been able to get back in to get anymore work done (obviously) due to the snow/freeze that that Texas had last February. It pretty much wrecked our house and ate up all my hair transplant savings. Maybe next year.

I’ve got a few pictures to share. The office I currently work in has a giant window with really great diffused lighting. 5049BCD4-84C2-4FE0-8CE3-D7B43CC7DE08.thumb.jpeg.e2bfdab4a77f2d8d5778374a107284b2.jpeg2D048743-2ED9-405C-B6DC-166407D6B015.thumb.jpeg.d7aff89c7ae79c9c0afb70476b84a3ea.jpegEE4DD604-7F10-4203-B68A-1154406D3EA0.thumb.jpeg.c678025c23d88023c01014d73debc1c0.jpegAF1DD4A8-7638-443F-8433-335DCA796490.thumb.jpeg.9a75514241963820bed9aaf4c77a6619.jpegFC52195B-C459-4A19-936B-0E768FAF43D0.thumb.jpeg.03c9caff0c143ee283a82ba84c13d85b.jpeg57AF8DEF-D339-4801-AEB2-23E28A1E27C9.thumb.jpeg.055b741e0bb514969df729f62e6c0a97.jpeg8D2F083E-F046-4537-8F32-FF180CF5B749.thumb.jpeg.ae605045b0ae2cc1db6fa899043e46d8.jpegDC56FE43-33D7-4117-B7D1-B8E39DFEC628.thumb.jpeg.d252e146506ef697272befc667ec9bd0.jpeg

I would also like to add that @Melvin- Moderator suggested sometime ago that I try adding dermarolling to my regiment, which I was initially hesitant about, but it sat in the back of my mind for who knows how long and I finally started giving it a try. I started doing it on April 16; exactly two years post-op. So while it’s only been 4 months, and I haven’t noticed any results just yet, I am looking forward to seeing why that should bring.

I hope this finds everybody well. I’ll be around.

The work is still holding strong. I hope things are all right after that freeze. We managed to get by without too much issue but I know some folks like you got hit harder.

The confidence you've gained really comes off in your posts. There's a certain air about your writing that is different from when you first started the thread. Very happy for you.

It's been really useful following your thread, still looking amazing, a great result. Will be interested to know how you get on with the derma rolling and whether you see any results to make it worth the effort.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the love, for sure. I’m hoping to get more work done in the spring and when I do I’ll definitely be updating that journey and If I notice any significant changes from the dermarolling I’ll hop on with that.

Your hairline and frontal third are an A+ now. Good for you, man.

we have similar hair types, and if I ever pulled the trigger on a procedure, I’d want exactly what you ended up in terms of your hairline.

as an aside, how’s it going with the fin? No issues?

@yesplease, thanks man! In April I will have been on fin for a whole decade and other than the occasional brain fog, and we’re talking a real light fog here, I would say the rewards have heavily outweighed the risks for me.

@Cahustler and @Melvin- Moderatorthanks guys, I appreciate the love. Cahustler, I’d love to see an 18 month update!

Last Saturday, April 16th, I was three years post-op. It’s been an excellent three years.

People who have never met me before will comment on my having better hair than their 18 year old brothers. I don’t know about that but I’m very happy.

I do feel I’ve lost a little ground in my hairline but that’s very subjective as I would be very bald right now had I not gotten the hair transplant.

Im currently on fin, biotin, and minox. I have been on all of these meds since April of 2012.

I also hide what is gone in my crown. I’ve grown out the front and frontal mid-scalp long enough that I can pull it back and tie it in a little ponytail and no one is the wiser. I’m kinda locked into that style, though, if I want to continue to hide my barren crown.

My family has been trying to get our finances together since the snowpocalypse that Texas saw in February of 2021. We’ve finally pulled ourselves out of that rut. I haven’t spoken to Dr Arocha just yet because we have two family vacations planned before the year is out but I’m planning on moving forward with getting my crown done at the beginning of 2023.

Same format as usual for those who have followed along. Two types of lighting and no product or fibers.

Hey @GoliGoliGoli, I didn’t want to derail OP’s thread so I thought I would just answer your question on my own thread.

I opted for FUT for a few reasons. One was that I have always kept my hair longer. When I started losing my hair I was kinda forced into shaving my head because my hair loss was pretty diffuse throughout and when it was long it made me look unhealthy. While having a shaved head never held me back from anything…I was like everybody else here. I just wanted my hair back.

I’m leaning toward being a Norwood 6 and I felt like I wanted to get a couple of strips under my belt before moving on to FUE. I think that if I had waited until now I probably would’ve started with FUE as I feel like FUE really is getting the kind of yield that strip got for so many years-some of the most renowned doctors would say FUE was better now.

That being said I really don’t regret my strip scar. It is a non-issue for me. Since I’ve always been prone to keep my hair longer I didn’t feel like I was sacrificing anything for my gains and when I go for FUE I’ll have some grafts placed within the scar to help conceal it if I ever decide to cut my hair a little shorter.

The price was better suited to me. FUE costs so much more in the states than FUT. I wanted what I wanted and I wanted it right then! Lol

I also felt at the time, and still feel, that I chose the best doctor for myself and that going with him for strip was the best choice for me. That’s really the most important thing. Trusting your doctor. He recommended strip before FUE and I haven’t looked back.
