Appears as though you have a very similar hair loss pattern to myself. My crown is getting worse by the day. I plan on having Arocha fill it in someday...... but who knows when that will be!

Those sound like good graft counts for the respective regions. For scar concealment you'd probably only need a few hundred FUE grafts assuming any future scarring looks as good as the current one.

FUT is the right way to go, you look awesome with long hair. You got the perfect type of hair for longer hair. My hair starts to look puffy if it’s long, but yours is like that wavy surfer hair. Once you get the crown done, it’s a shut case 👏🏼

Thanks Melvin! I agree. I’m definitely going to utilize strip again before moving into FUE. I totally used to be a long haired surfer! A long time ago when my bones were young and made of rubber. I might have a couple of pictures.

hey steve

is it possible to actually do a FUE session and with the extra grafts fill in the FUT scar while doing that?

Yes, absolutely. It’s possible but I’m still trying to get as much hair out of my donor as possible and, for me at least, that means continuing with strip before moving forward with FUE. At least until my laxity gives. I think I can get at least one more out of it so I’m going for it.

Hey, @Betterhair! I haven’t heard from you in awhile! I hope everything is going alright for you, man.

Yeah, trying to coordinate time off with having the funds and feeling safe during the pandemic is pretty tough. It’s exactly the boat I’m in.

Did you ever get in touch with Dr Arocha office after your first procedure?

Thanks @Mycroft! Dr Arocha said the same thing about the grafts for the scar, 200-300 grafts. I also plan to utilize SMP in the scar and see how I feel about it. I remember Spex had Advanced Tricho Pigmentation performed into his scar and it was absolutely stellar. It lasts longer than SMP so if I like SMP I’ll look into ATP.

I’m not sure I understand... you mentioned possibly this will be your last surgery but you’re implying going FUT again the FUE

Will this be done simultaneously or are we talking 2 more procedures?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I wasn’t implying that this would be my last surgery. I’d like to get at least one more FUT, if not a third later If I’m not totally happy with this, before moving forward with FUE. When I started I still had a lot of hair and I fully expect that to go one day so I’d like to do FUT right now to get my hair where I want it with a small FUE into my scar once I’m done with strip then Really move into FUE to chase any loss further down the road.

If I was to ever get another one done it would be FUE towards the crown and the scar... done and done.. but then I’m older than you so I can’t see myself going to get 2 more procedures if any... still praying my current procedure will get better as we speak ... I’m going to be excited for you.

stay safe !!

I had an appointment set up but I was unable to make it. He needs to see a spot that did not take so he can fix that! Also, I have been off of finasteride for two years now and my crown is really getting bad. I had to since for some reason it was making me dizzy and some fog brain.

Anyway, hopefully when this pandemic subsides and an effective vaccine is established, I can pursue my plan to fill in crown.

Fantastic result man! Your hair is so versatile and however you style it, it looks great and natural. I'm following your journey with interest and good luck in your next procedure to get that crown filled. You’re starting from a tremendous place and there isn’t much left to get back to a full head of hair. Stay the course!

Hello everyone! I thought I’d share some photos as today marks 18 months which technically means that I’m at the end of my first HT’s journey.

I do believe that my transplanted hair has continued to evolve throughout the entire process so far. Ive continued to let the top of my hair grow throughout the pandemic while keeping the sides short-ish. As short as I can keep it anyway.

I’ve got quite a few pics to share. I suffered a pretty massive shed literally the week that I made my last update in July. I documented that so I’m going to share it as well as wet, outside in direct sunlight, and bathroom pics.

As always, no product or fibers are in my hair.

First and foremost: The Shed.

It sucked.

My hair had to be on point in order for it not to be a thing.28E80ECF-0FDB-4A3A-92C8-F35393C42A74.thumb.jpeg.039a62365cc72e796903eba2b6ede9d4.jpeg9A8A0878-5A99-44F2-9E5A-35850166D9DF.thumb.jpeg.83d36c6e0cb431b42a13efaae456dda6.jpeg It pretty much had to be styled that way in order to hide it. Since I never go out with everything happening right now I don’t worry about it. The shedding has evened out and it’s not nearly as diffusely thin looking as it was but the area in the picture is still an area that I want more work done on next time around.

Moving on.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted any wet photos. It’s most certainly better than it was however many months ago I last posted but there’s still a ways to go. I was in direct sunlight and couldn’t see jack so it was somewhat difficult to get some good angles. I was fairly pleased though I’d like to see how it would look with shorter hair in direct sunlight, as well.C7EB1A75-461B-44DF-B3B4-99E2EC5CD7D0.thumb.jpeg.e3f7375f14ba0c8643dddfdc29e8243f.jpeg8AC3821B-3262-4B78-BA3A-FE51AF84D014.thumb.jpeg.6742b63da5b0259f922afd21af09d767.jpegEC0150FE-3929-4093-8E7C-6E6869107E0E.thumb.jpeg.dedc7d29b83ef7b2ca11ef075c7b41ef.jpeg0C36F356-95D9-4553-8BD3-73DF9AB3B2E5.thumb.jpeg.870b299bdf1d95adb02e30dcc9504255.jpeg1A045A67-6BFD-4749-9A48-803F74379512.thumb.jpeg.05c978d0de16cffbbb4e37053d30ae58.jpeg82EE5AE4-15D1-45E0-8C80-660B2A989A75.thumb.jpeg.c9236c76596fdfff859a546a64e92027.jpeg28F05FD7-26A2-4E6D-871D-55EE04CF2D58.thumb.jpeg.8ab9ff95fc893aa2feaf0efb3124d525.jpegI might post again around the 2 year mark. Maybe sooner. We’ll see. I’m just documenting how it would look currently versus how it looked when I cut it down all over previously.

As far as when I’m going in for more work. I’m still at a crossroad. I had saved up quite a bit of money/paid leave with this new job and then last month I had to have surgery which pretty much depleted all of it. So I guess I’m back to saving up.

That’s all for now. I’ll post here again when I do something drastic to my hair.

I’ll be around.

That's a pretty significant shed but it looks like the area has largely recovered. I wonder if this was just synchronized shedding due to the transplanted hairs mostly being on the same cycle.

@MycroftI thought the exact same thing!

I was wondering if they were all on the same cycle. My understanding is that that’s not usual. Maybe it is. What do I know?🤷🏼‍♂️

I also think that I noticed it toward the end of the shed because it seems to have recovered very quickly. I think it had been happening for awhile and I just hadn’t noticed it until it was screaming in my face.

I’m just glad it’s sorted itself out for the most part.

There was an interview with the doctors from Eugenix where they discussed a tendency to see true results looking a little less dense from around 18 months onward because that's around the time the hair cycles have started to desynchronize and you're looking at your "true" results.

As you said, it seems to have sorted itself out and is looking good. The spot you've highlighted is actually one that I consider to be key aesthetically. I personally would sooner have thinner temporal corners if it meant stronger density in the anterior point of the hairline and just behind. Not only is it easier to style but front and center of your hairline is by far the least forgiving part of your hair because people are constantly looking at it straight on.

I was eating my lunch outside at work today and decided to grab a couple of pics of my hair in direct sunlight. I’ve been cutting my own hair as I’m still not really ready to get to a barber with Covid. I was very happy with it-like, when do I say anything else about it...?

It’s just a couple of pics but I thought I’d share. There’s no product of any kind in there. I just run my hands through it to keep it out of my face.3C0F6268-6121-4891-96BD-145CB7571D15.thumb.jpeg.92e917492d6e03f7fa06d90e08bbfacc.jpeg14C8A1A3-421F-490D-9EF3-437FA24195E0.thumb.jpeg.63b105606596e390690b65a50681e81f.jpeg
