Help, is my smp too dark, too dense

Hi, I am a first time user here, and would love to get some feedback on my concerns of a recent treatment I have had done.

I recently had 2 sessions of smp to conceal my scar, I am concerned that the ink chosen is too dark for my natural hair colour, and that the amount of area covered is over the top and unnecessary, it also appears to be blotchy in some areas.

i went in to have a 5mm scar covered up almost 2 weeks ago, here on the Gold Coast, I told the technician I planned to wear my hair at a number 1, faded up into my hair on top, which I wear a few inches long usually. 

instead of cutting my hair to that length, it was slightly trimmed around the scar and he went to work, 

a week later, the day before my second session, I decided to cut it down to the length I wanted it to be kept at, I was suprised to see what I thought was ink build up on the surface of the skin, it looked blotchy, and pooled In areas, I later found it was SMP down outside of the scar region, it was very dense and not consistent around the area.

i went into my appointment the next day (4 days ago) and the technician did not say anything negative of the situation, but suggested we blend more SMP around that area, he then did a more even/ constant band as you can see in my below pics.

my concern is that the ink used is too dark to wear my hair at a 1 or even a 2.

I am also concerned that it is a very unnecessary amount of coverage to blend the original 5mm scar that I went in there for.

i also feel that that sudden stop of SMP will always be noticeable unless I grow my hair to a much longer length, perhaps number 3. Especially below the band of smp, as this would usually be worn at the shortest length and blended up.

Having to wear it at a 3 kind of defeats the purpose as the scar was never visible with a number 3 in the first place.

 

i will post the pics in order, and would love any advise and information on if I am over reacting or if my fears are justified.

the first pic with the untouched scar was not taken directly before, my hair was much longer in my first session, about a 3. The second pic is 1 week after first session when I shaved down for session 2, the third is a day after session 2, and the 4th is 4 days after session 2.

Could you please advise of what I should do from here?

it defeats the purpose of a fade.  

 

You definitly need to get refunded.  Fill in a complaint with the state and ftc for marketing fraud.  They sold you something they could not deliver.

Thanks fella’s, so it is as bad as I thought. 

I’m really shocked, as he has a tone of great reviews and photos, I even watched him perform work on another patient. Which looked awesome, I just don’t understand why mine went so wrong. 

I have asked, multiple times in detail why he has done it this way, but kept getting told to wait and see how it looks in a couple of weeks once the hair grows over it. Which as I mentioned, defeats the purpose. 

I was hoping to get some feedback that there was some truth in that, and that this ink will fade dramatically, but if anything, it is becoming more noticeable as my skin looses the redness and the pigments stand out more.

This is probably the second worst "smp" I've ever seen. 

You could have gotten a scar revision, or he could have stayed in the scar tissue, or a ton of other things. This is terrible.

The work is very bad. It's unacceptable, I suggest going to the individual and asking for a full refund. Have you voiced your dissatisfaction? If so what did they say? Hopefully you did not choose the permanent SMP. If it's not permanent it will fade over time. Until then grow your hair out asap.

Hi Melvin, thanks for your opinion.

I contacted him twice via text with photos, asking him why it looks the way it does. He advised me that it is only easily days after the treatment and to wait and see what it looks like after a couple of weeks.

i then booked an appointment with him for the 14th, which will be just over 2 weeks from my second treatment.

what are your thoughts on getting him to add more SMP to the areas below and above the current SMP area? Do you think that will fix it? Or should I just look down the avenue of laser removal?

he advised in the initial consult that it may last a life time, so I assume it’s the permanent pigment used. Which is what I would have wanted if it was a good job.

What the f...? How can you seriously consider going back for another procedure with this butcher?

Try to get money back and run. Visit another great SMP artist and ask for his opinion, grow your hair and hope it fades over time.

Absolutely do not go back to the same place ,going there once is understandable , but going there twice would be unforgivable and you would have only yourself to blame for making things a lot worse .

Yea dude,  i agree with 2 previous posters, DO NOT GO BACK! This guy clearly doesnt know what he is doing and if u return it will hurt your case to get your money back.  I would ask for full refund and for him to cover corrective smp work to get it fixed,  and you can get that fixed... Just dont make it worse and harder for a better place to repair

Damn that really isn't great sadly. Hope you find a solution. I would grow the hair out longer or get a scar revision!

Hi Sean, I have spoken with 3 different places now, they all recommended speaking with a dermatologist about laser removal as they are unable to repair the work that’s been done.

i seen a dermatologist today, they did a small test patch with a 1064 laser and got great results. They want me to wait 2 weeks which will give them an indication if the laser killed my hair follicle, that’s my biggest concern.

hopefully it will be fine and I can get a few treatments to lighten or hopefully fully remove the dark pigment.

I am so relieved for you that there is a way to repair this.  Really hope after two weeks your existed hair wont be affected nor follicle be destroyed.  Glad the small test patch was done and you got great results. That was a smart way to handle this.  

If it is one thing I cant stand at all, it is a person sufferring due to repairs.  It really infuriates me and i am looking forward to seeing a successful outcome for you.  If you can, Do not hesitate to inform others who did this as you might save them from this outcome and time and money wasted.

Thanks mate,  if all goes to plan, I’ll post another pic in a few weeks after my laser session to show how it has faded, the dermatologist seemed really impressed with the test patch and how the pigment reacted so hopefully one session has some noticeable results

It can do mate, that is why they did a test patch, the hair stayed the same colour which was a positive, but as for killing the follicle, the two week wait should tell, but even then it will be hard to fully determine if it caused any minor damage. 

It is set at a much lower setting than what lasers are for hair removal, so that is what I am banking on.

Hi mate, I decided against the laser, too much risk i feel of losing or thinning the surrounding hair. 

I decided to let it grow out to a number 2 and 3 and I’m pretty happy with the look.

if I would wear my hair this short before the smp I would be able to see the scar, so it has helped camouflage to some degree. What do you think?

I think it looks pretty good actually. It might look even better if you let it grow to a 3/4. I think you made the right call.
