I am not saying it is poor donor management because of the graft numbers and I think the others in the thread who made this point were also quite clear about that. I am saying the very bizarre distribution is poor judgement. The guy is a repair job to begin with and has a scarred donor and then he goes and takes all the grafts from one side of his head which will thin the hair out on one side. Even the patient has said he is not happy with it! What is poor donor management however is he has clearly used a 1.0 punch and the patient now has crater sized extraction wounds.

It is highly likely he will get a good result, as you did, that is not the issue. The issue for me is that I think you can go to other clinics and get an equally good result with less controversy.

Just to clarify a few points, since this is referring to my head:

1. I had 1700 grafts, not 1300

2. I'm not necessarily unhappy with the removal of grafts from one side, just confused. Clinic says this is normal for procedures my size and makes extractions easier in future procedures. I'm awaiting a call from Dr. Diep sometime this week to discuss this in detail. If it grows in and looks fine, I won't care--but right now I'm a bit nervous about it since I can't really think of a good reason for doing it this way.

Please keep us updated why this was the case and if he is willing to space it out next time?

Some solid advice in this thread to the original poster, however all this extra shit with other people coming in and hijacking his thread with their own questions re doctors none of us have heard of is bullshit... make your own thread and let this poster have his.

  • 2 years later...

Hi guys, I thought i'd update since it's been a while. I decided to go crazy with the medication. So i've been taking finasteride (1.25mg) for a little over 2 years but I had to drop it recently because I was getting hit hard with sides. I noticed mild sides throughout the whole time I was taking it but they progressively got worse. I fully recovered from being off the drug for 2months now. I am still taking nizoral shampoo twice a week, minoxidil twice a day and RU 58441 for about 1 year now. These are some recent pictures to see where I stand. I'm definately going to going to get a hair transplant. My main concern is obviously with coming off finasteride, I'm pretty sure I'm losing ground but I cannot tolerate the side effects. Maybe I think I can stabilized my hair with just using RU58841. I  seem to handle it ok as all my side effects have cleared up from finasteride after 2 months but I still take RU58441. Anyways here are some recent photo's.

Hard to say if you’re losing ground. Two different angles, hair length and lighting. Have you considered topical dut?

I'm pretty confident I'll be going to Dr.Diep for my hairline/mid scalp. I think he's the best in the business from my own research. As for the crown I'm unsure yet that will be after the front is done

Yup I like his work, have you been in consultation with him yet ? Be interesting to see how many grafts he would be suggesting.
