Senior Member MarieEvo Posted January 8, 2019 Senior Member Share Posted January 8, 2019 (edited) #BeforeAndAfterMondays Since the age of 19, this woman had suffered from an aggressive form of folliculitis decalvans that was misdiagnosed. Feeling self conscious each time she swam or the wind blew, the cosmetic impact of this scalp condition had a significant impact on her life. Finally, 15 years later, she had a scalp biopsy confirming this form of scarring alopecia. Although it had stabilized, hair would not grow back on its own... She underwent a follicular unit transplantation (FUT) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2033 grafts were placed. Her hair follicles were incubated in autologous (her own) platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure. This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs. As with all of Dr. Wesley’s patients, she was NOT required to shave her hair for the procedure. As a result, this patient was able to return comfortably to work and social activities within approximately 7-10 days of his procedure. The patient returned one year after her procedure and images of the patient can be seen below. Senior Member MarieEvo Posted March 4, 2019 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) Hi, jj51702. The trials are not currently open. Development regarding the mechanics of this novel harvesting process rains ongoing. While heh continues to research improved strategies for treating hair loss, it is not a coincidence that Dr. Wesley's attention to this particular divide during non-office hours have shifted towards family care since the birth of his son. Thank you and have a pleasant day 🙂 Edited March 4, 2019 by MarieEvo I have worked with 26 different hair restoration doctors throughout my career.
