2815 grafts with Dr. Sethi & Dr. Bansal, DHT (modified FUE), 1 year

Recommended Posts

This patient is a 28 year old man who had lost half of his frontal zone by the age of 23 years. He was taking Finastride to control further baldness. We performed 2815 grafts for him. He was Grade III on the Norwood Scale of baldness. The results presented below are after the completion of a year after his procedure.

Breakdown of the grafts:

Scalp grafts: 2815 (singles: 139; the rest were doubles and triples)

Here is the link to Dr. Arika Bansal and Dr. Pradeep Sethi's Direct Hair Transplant (DHT) paper. First published and adopted by Dr. Arika Bansal and Dr. Pradeep Sethi as the article surmises, the technique leads to greater number of graft survival and ''LEAST'' cold ischemic time (out of the body time) for extracted grafts, because, the recipient site/holes are already made. Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal in my experience are only two in the South Asia and probably only one amogst the handful using this pioneering technique.

in DHT or (Radically Modified FUE) the recipient punches are artistically created first after estimating the number of grafts required to cover the bald scalp area. This not only gives more time for the surgeon to create artistic hairline (because the grafts to be transplanted are harvested after these punch holes are made!, so surgeon is not in a hurry to create punches before the grafts lying around and already harvested dries out!!!), but also provides for harvested grafts to be almost immediately transplanted into the awaiting recipient punch holes!, brilliant ides first pioneered by Drs. Bansal and Sethi.

Thank you Mr Harin for your continued trust and encouragements.

Thank you Bill for your appreciation.

As mentioned by Mr Harin, in DHT we try to minimise the out of the body time for the grafts which are living tissue and are supposed to grow back in a new area. In our experience of now more than 4500 cases, in DHT there is an early growth of the planted hair and that proves that there is maximum survival of the planted hair.
