Day 10 Post Op

Made it Day 10 without any incidents and happy to report that all the scabs are off. This time around I felt the healing process was much quicker and I think I was largely pain free by about Day 6. Maybe this was due to it being a much small procedure.

As you can see redness from the front has completely gone but a little remains in the vertex as it did before. I’ve been using aloe Vera gel on the donor area since about day 7 and will start using on the recipient area from tomorrow as well. Find this really helps with itching and helping to heal the skin.

I have drunk and eaten quite a bit of rubbish over the Christmas period including a few glasses of wine and am not concerned this will effect my outcome. I washed much more thoroughly this time round and really felt like the grafts were really well lodged in by about day 3/4.

I am personally really happy with how it looks now. I have the extra density in the front and the vertex that I required and considering where I was before this I can’t wait to see what a difference this makes. My donor looks good as well to me, was worried it may look a bit thin but looks fine.

Have a good new year!

Just getting properly caught up on your thread and just WOW, that hairline is da bomb! It looks amazing and as VicTNYC suggests, you wouldn't even think you'd had anything done.  Will be interesting to see how it will look in a month/six weeks time when its fully shed and you are in the 'ugly duckling' phase.  I'm assuming it'll be less noticeable this time as the main hairline is already there. Def curious to see that stage this time around.

I did start some dialog with Asmed about a 2nd procedure myself but I have been in two minds whether to proceed as I'm an easily anxious person and found the whole thing physically and mentally stressful (guess it didn't help that I was being filmed last time), but seeing your result makes me more convinced its the way forward and I should just grow a pair and get it done 😂.  I just need to try and figure out when as I have lots on this year which makes it a little challenging.

Nice, will follow your progress. You don´t think the donor looks very patchy?

I didn’t. Do you think it does? To be honest I worry about the donor more than I do the recipient. Sometimes I do think it looks a little thin?

Thoughts?

Deb thanks for sharing your story and wish you happy growing!

I do feel you should of got the result you wanted first time round without the additional grafts. 7500 grafts seems quite excessive to cover the area in question before first surgery going by pre op picture. Did Dr Erdogan say anything about the density issues?

It frustrates me when I see Surgeons like Konior, Arocha, Shapiro posting natural results on a regular basis using half the amount of grafts to what Erdogan would use. I cant figure it out.

Still waiting to see a solid Asmed result (No density or hairline shape issues) from 2016 onwards from this site.

Hopefully 2019 will be the year!

Ok maybe not very patchy but a little bit. Think it´s also the contrast between dark hair and light skin. Anyway, you just had the surgery and it should improve some when the donor hair gets stronger again from what I heard. I had a look at your first thread and looks like the same pattern there so I wouldn´t think about it for the next 6 months or so.

I feel you with worrying more about the donor, especially when wanting the option to have a really short cut. Having the possibility of SMP as a backup plan for the donor is also a relief.

In my opinion your donor looks fine, you have to remember that you’re talking to guys who are essentially trained to know what to look for. The general public wouldn’t look twice at your donor.

2 Weeks Post Op

Not much to report at this stage. Really happy with the density compared to these shots following my first procedure. I am getting some spots again in the donor region now. No pain whatsoever and numbness has subsided greatly in the recipient. Will update again next week as the shed begins.

3 Weeks Post Op

So at exactly the same stage as last time I have started to shed over the past two days. Seeing maybe 30-40 hairs in my hands after washing in the morning. Forgot how little fun this part of the process is.

Nothing new to report apart from occasional spots and itching. I have sent updates to the clinic and they said all looks healthy and fine. I think the donor has recovered well already. Will update next week when I expect most of the transplanted hair will have fallen. Just hope there’s minimal shock loss this time round.

So what will not fall will be the new hair, or will new ones become new in the place of the fallen?

The new grafts will shed (fall) and in about 3 months they should reappear. What will not shed (fall) will be the original hair although some of this can fall due to shock from the procedure although this will return.

4 Weeks Post Op

My shedding seems to have slowed down massively. Not seeing any hairs in the shower when I wash my hair.

It does look a little thinner all over now but mainly in the crown area. If this is the extent of my shed and shock loss, I will be very happy. Last time round I looked my worse around 6-7 weeks so still have a bit of time till then.

Donor area looks decent in my opinion.

1 Month Post Op

Hit the one month mark and got the sides and back of head shaved to a 0.5 grade purely to see if more scars would be visible but I’m please to say it really doesn’t look any worse than before which I’m really happy about.

I’ve finished my shed now. Not seeing anymore hairs falling out. I’ve definitely experienced a bit of shock loss in the crown as you can see.

No redness, pain or spots anymore either. Just a waiting game for my hairs to reappear. Appearance wise i’m happy going out as I am.

Will switch to monthly updates now.

The clinic does look 5-star and is top notch. Also seems like ASMED has caring professionals and really do care.  You are on track to get great results...although with your pre-op hair most would advise you against HT.

Good luck.

Hey guys, will be two months this weekend so will post a full update on Sunday but wanted to let you guys know that the recovery period for a second transplant is so much easier and has little impact on your appearance. At only two months I can already style the hair and have had no need to wear a hat or hide away like I did first time round. A few of you messaged me asking about this and as you can see all of my pre op hair is growing as normal. Can't wait to see what it looks like when all the new hairs start to sprout. Hairy.thumb.jpg.b90d82661dae20f2439958e164c0d78f.jpg

2 Months Post Op

Pretty happy with where I am now in terms of my appearance considering this was the worst stage for me following my first procedure. I don't think I have experienced much shock loss in the recipient areas but I do think the donor looks a little patchy. I remember this being the case for the first 3-6 months last time so hopefully this will improve again over time. Even if it was to remain as it is then I still think it's fine for everyday life. Nobody has ever said any different.

The second procedure for anyone considering it has a significantly smaller impact on your life. I think the smaller size of the procedure helped with the recovery time as well. I've not worn a hat once and was back exercising after only 3 weeks. Playing football and heading the ball now as well. Had no pain, itching or loss of sensation since end of week 4.

I can't see any growth yet but it's so much more difficult to tell this time as the hairs are surrounded by other hairs. There is no new hair line to watch grow in which makes it hard to guage. People at my work have told me it looks thicker at the front so perhaps some of the hairs have remained and continued to grow as last time. One more month to go and then the fun should begin anyway. h1.thumb.jpg.9a1fa4f3e961b78ec542175b7fb2b09b.jpgh3.thumb.jpg.8d25ce646b2d94680536fccd8e6bf246.jpgh4.thumb.jpg.f407ca9a7fb0185391de02ccf0eb8b40.jpgh6.thumb.jpg.aea26f64f40288db6024fb6ffb67e5cf.jpgh7.thumb.jpg.dcfe75c5d7e3ee97dda76608e0d57972.jpg
