Dr. Diep vs. Dr. Hasson - Thoughts on who for FUE?

I am looking to get an FUE surgery done.   After talking to 5 or 6 clinic, I was told I would need about 3500 graft.   I have narrowed down to Dr. Diep or Dr. Hasson.     Any thoughts or recommendation from anyone regarding these 2 doctors?     During the process, I have also considered and had discussion with Shapiro, Ranior, Rahal.

Hasson donors areas and hairlines look great from pics same as diep. I personally had diep 2.9k graphs and my results are not as good as the ones people show here or on his YouTube. His extractions left bigger scars on me than I would prefer. Said he used 1mm. I think you'll be fine with either tho as when they hit a homerun it's amazing but they are not infallible. They all can have just ok to meh results picking a top doctor should just give you a higher potential of an ok to homerun result

From what I have seen online. Hasson. Donor scars are noticeably smaller and overall cleaner work. The size of the donor scars on dieps work, you can't cut your hair as short, which defeats the purpose of an fue procedure. 

Yes I've had work done by Dr Hasson, but judging by the pictures alone which have been posted I would lean to Dr Hasson for FUE or FUT.

You can't go wrong with any of these two surgeons, it's like picking between a Ferrari and Lamborghini. Scarring is dependent on the individual, I have had two FUE procedures with Dr. Diep and my scars are negligible and this is after having 1mm punches and .9 mm punches used on me. Picture is with a #1 guard.

Just curious, have you consulted with both doctors, or just with the advisors in their clinics? If you haven’t consulted with the doctors themselves,  you should consider doing that. If you have consulted with both Doctors directly then I would go with the one that most closely matches your goals in terms of density, hairline, donor management, etc. As Melvin said, both are capable of giving you an excellent result.

Hasson may have cleaner donor work- but it's difficult to get to talk to him. And spaceman, Hasson rarely does consultations. Many of the times the day he has surgery, he meets the patients or talks to them for the first time. This is where Diep has an upperhand- it may be brief, but he personally consults his patients online, in person.

Not sure why that would be a problem if his results speak for itself.  Hasson does come in to speak to you after towards the end of the consultation to confirm everything they the consultant has recommended. This is from my experience, at least.

if I had to choose just between those 2 doctors - I would select Dr. Hasson every time

He isn't asking about FUT though, he's asking about FUE, Dr Diep has quite a few FUE's documented on here and on youtube where as Dr. Hasson has a few but really has been a specialist in FUT from what I've researched, fair enough though, just seems you are going with the one who has less documented FUE results.

I'm pretty sure Doug will be able to chime in about how many fue cases Dr Hasson and or Wong have done in the last couple years. Their results seem pretty much identical in terms of success rates. The thing is that Dr hassons fut scars are well hidden that most ppl would opt for a mega session doing fut which is so much cheaper.

Fair point, I have nothing but respect for both Dr Hassons and Dr Wongs work, two of the best.

I’ve recently got a FUE with hasson .. I can say they have a world class clinic .. n good at dense packing .. I also had consultation with diep .. he drew the hairline on for me .. he took 1 minute to draw the hairline .. n I liked it a lot .. he has good artistic skills ..

my surgery with hasson went well .. Doctor Hasson took about 20 minutes to do my hairline .. n even though I like it . I prefer dieps hairline drawing better since it matches more with my face features .. 

as far as the question is hasson’s clinic is only a fut specialist , that’s not true ., everything is the same as their fut .. except now they have a fue specialist doing the extractions ,, n she was really good ... I asked Doctor Hasson to his  face how many fue have u done . N he said about 1000,,. H&w has really been pushing for FUE lately ,, so they pretty experienced with it now

Hey Legend, I've been following your HT journey in the different threads in terms of your in depth look into finding the right clinic etc, congrats on going with Hasson and I hope you feel really upbeat about the possible results, are you going to create a thread tracking your entire journey? You should bro it will be much appreciated by those of us in the same boat you were a few months ago trying to find the right HT surgeon etc, best of luck with the growing mate, I hope you get a homerun!

Hey yeah , things are kinda normal for me .  The realization of just spending $20,000 for more hair on my head hasn’t hit me yet.. but yeah things seem good ,, I didn’t bleed too much, extraction scars were minimal , no patchy areas of Over harvesting in one area. recipient doesn’t seem too red .. n no goosebumps skin so far ., so I’m hoping for good results ..  I might start a thread about it ,, people been asking me to., but right now I don’t like worrying about my hair n just let the growing process takes its course ..  but I will later on .. thanks

20k the same you’d pay for a used honda civic. If you think about it, most wouldn’t think twice about putting 20K down on a depreciating asset like a car. But when it comes to themselves they think it’s too much, the truth is money comes and goes, I’ve spent what some would consider a lot of money on my hair, but I don’t regret it for a minute. In fact, every day i look in the mirror I’m seeing a return on my investment. Your hair is with you everywhere, money, cars material things don’t stay with you.

Melvin is right though bro, you are your greatest investment, I'm sure it's hard to spend 20k on yourself, think of my position... I live all the way in New Zealand, the current exchange rate currency wise between NZ and the US is 66c to every 1 US dollar so basically if I want a hair transplant by a reputable surgeon like Konior, Diep, Gabel, Shapiro, Arocha etc, I'm looking at close to 32k for a 2500 FUE, something close to that, and it's killing me because I've spent years grinding and working to save money and now I'm facing the idea of having to spend it just on my hair, it's tough, I get it bro, but when you see the results and how good it makes you feel you will realize it was all worth it, try to stay positive... remember stress is also a cause of diminishing hair, be positive and I'm sure in some way it'll help the growth, you got this man.

Oh and I also suggest starting a thread from now because when you think about it... we have used the experiences of all of these gentlemen to help us on our journey to find the knowledge and understanding of the HT world, they've been invaluable right? I've seen you in plenty of other guys threads commenting and asking questions and I'm sure they reciprocated like genuinely good souls, be the next in that line, I plan to be when it's my time, and I don't even like taking photo's etc (partially because of hair loss), but it's what we are here for : )

They are both solid. But I remember Diep himself saying in our consultations that he highly respects Hasson and he can totally understand why a potential patient may chose to go with Hasson over him. 

Diep rarely offers positive remarks to his competition like that from what I remember.

This is my donor area from Dr Hasson. Just came back trom the barber. Number 1-2 fade with an Oster classic 76 which is actually shorter than other guards. Their number 1 is actually closer to a 0.5 and 2 is more like in between a 1.5-2. You can still see the scars but it is no where as obvious as Dr dieps

I've been away from the forum for several years between HTs, and coming back I'm a little shocked at a few of the donor sites I've seen of Diep's FUE patients.

It’s a but unfair to claim scarring is solely dependent on the surgeon. Scarring is also dependent on the individual. I’ve had three hair transplants all via FUE with Dr. Diep and this is my donor with a zero guard. Now, the scars are there, but not horrible especially at a zero guard with 5,300 grafts extracted.
