backtopast
Dear All, I am seeking some advice from the experienced posters and people who have gone through the process here. I have been a muted visitor to this site and talking it all in. little about me I am a 41 year old male of Indian origin ( i am only stating this as this might help my end results or assessment) who have been suffering from hair loss for last 5 years. I was treated for being anaemic 1 year before. My blood and iron levels have come back to normal now. My HB level used to be 9. and feretin was 2.2. I had chicken pox in 2012. The picture with sunglasses was in 2012. I started noticing significant hair loss after this episode. May be it had started earlier than this. I am currently not on any multi vitamins or hair loss prevention cream or medications. I had never taken it before. I have consulted a surgeon and has recommended 3500 scalp grats and another 500 body grafts. This was based on teh pictures i had sent to him. I would like to have some opinions from members here. I am seeking to understand 1. Should i visit a surgeon here in UK in person for a consultation to understand my hair characteristics and coverage area. 2. Should i be taking any medications before my hair transplant for it to be successful 3. How long will i be taking my post hair transplant medications. If i stop it will i loose hair. - I do not want to be on lifelong medication to save my hair 4. I am fairly ok with my hair loss, i understand this is a cosmetic procedure and thats how i am treating it. However i want to know how big the risk are with respect to infections .. 5. Will i be able to acheive the hair line i am expecting to have like the picture with sunglassess. Many thanks for everyone in helping me out out with this journey. Senior Member Louisjams Posted September 9, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted September 9, 2018 IMHO indian pts often have a better than average outcome as their hair is often coarse, dark, and thick. All of these factors will work in your favor after HT. 1) You should visit with 2-3 surgeons you like before you make a decision. 2) You do not have to be on meds before or after surgery but it helps if you can do it. 3) You will probably not be able to get back to where you were, but I think you could look much better than you do now. BE REALISTIC. Your donor area looks pretty solid.
Regular Member BuddyX Posted September 10, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted September 10, 2018 Just so you know, Hasson & Wong have free consultations in London next month. As you stated in your 1st point, you might want to try and get yourself booked in and seen in person.
