Regular Member action Posted August 11, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 Hi, I am 37. I have been losing hair since age 20. My Dad is NW6, so were one of my Dad's brothers and my maternal Grandfather. I also have had dandruff on and off for a long time. Previous hair transplant: In 2011, FUT 2250 grafts with Dr Madhu Pathuri, (no pictures) I think I was NW5 back then before the transplant. A couple of years back, I had some trauma and I feel it affected my scalp as well. I feel I may have lost transplanted hairs in the front. Medication: FInasteride 1 mg for close to 10 years. Minoxidil 5% on and off for 7-8 years. I don't want to add unnecessary details here. At this point, because I am on a non-immigrant Visa, I am looking at surgeons within US. Since I already have a scar from previous FUT and have advanced hair loss, I am considering FUT. I am in CA. At the top of my list are Gabel, Shapiro and Cooley. I have ruled out the ones with long wait times. I want to improve the overall look. I am not sure what is possible. I don't have any specific hair line in mind. I would like to get the transplant done in 1-3 months. I am open to suggestions.
Senior Member Gasthoerer Posted August 11, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 You are hard to judge from pics. There seems to be a lot of scar (?) tissue on you scalp. Or is it sht. else? Also you seem to have strong retrograde alopcia. In combitation with the weak sides, it looks like you are going towards a NW6+. We need more info: - Which part on you head is transplated hair? - How is the scar looking like. - Do you have body hair? Does it look similiar to your head hair? You might have half a bullet left. Do not waste it by rushing into a transplant. 400+ grafts in 2018 and 2900 grafts in 2020 via FUE with Feriduni
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted August 11, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 I agree with Gasthoerer, we need more information. I would also add Feller and Bloxham to your list although they are on quite literally the other side of the country to California.

The scar on the scalp in the pictures is because of an allergic reaction to a medication which affected my face and scalp. This was the trauma I was referring to. The transplanted hairs are on the front. I have a lot of body hair, I do think it looks alike. But, I need to check with a specialist. I struggled to take pictures of the scar on the back. I am attaching the ok ones. There is loss around it , so, not great.

How about the CA doctors, Diep and Rosanelli? And, Nadimi? Edited August 11, 2018 by action typo
Senior Member TrixGlendevon Posted August 11, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 I personally wouldn't use Diep. I have read some things about him I find very unethical. Do your own research though, by all means. Feller and Bloxham are the same clinic FYI. Another option, if you are willing to travel to Canada, is Hasson & Wong. Regular Member action Posted August 11, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 I have read things about Diep too. I agree. Is Bloxham newly added? Because of the Visa stamping and stuff, I am ruling out traveling. For now. How I wish H&W and Rahal had surgery centers in US! Thank you
Senior Member Gasthoerer Posted August 11, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 (edited) Umar should be on you list, as well as HLC in turkey because of the body hair issue. Maybe you can have a webmeeting if you cannot travel now. You are one of the most difficult cases I have seen in here. It will be a process which takes years and lots of money. Senior Member Sean Posted August 11, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 I would look into to Dr Wong as well. Dr Feller and Dr Bloxham are good. You may want to reach out to Dr Cooley as well. He probably can evaluate your skin condition too and see what is the safest way to proceed. He is a derm and a really good repair doc I heard. Very ethical too. I would not use body hair or beard hair or nape hair right now as it may cause more damage to your grafts and scalp tissue. That is a last resort thing, trust me on that one. Nai karna

Senior Member Gasthoerer Posted August 11, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2018 With all due respect: Of course body hair (including beard) is the last resort. But this case is already at it last resort. Sorry for beeing that honest. A plan has to include the evaluation of body hair, as the math makes it nessesary. That doesn't mean you start with it, but respect it in your plan. Nape hair for this case is literally follicular suecide. 400+ grafts in 2018 and 2900 grafts in 2020 via FUE with Feriduni

When you mention body hair, your intention is to use it for fixing the scar?
Senior Member Speegs Posted August 12, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted August 12, 2018 I know from personal experience that Dr. Gabel is an excellent FUT surgeon, and if you're willing to go to LA then going to Portland isn't much more of a trek. I recommend a virtual consult with him if you can. Hair loss patient and transplant veteran. Once a Norwood 3A. Received 2,700 grafts with coalition doctor on 8/13/2010 Received 2,380 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 9/30/2011 Received 1,820 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 7/28/2016

Regular Member FBO Posted August 19, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted August 19, 2018 Stay away from Diep, he knows how to talk, but when things go wrong, he is MIA. Had a procedure done with him, from the first few months I had issues, and he would just give me the BS., and asked for 9k to fix his F up.
