Shameless Bathroom Selfies

Recommended Posts

So as I’ve told everybody in another topic I created a couple months ago, I’ve been growing my hair for fun. It’s actually very reminiscent of my hairstyle when I was in my early 20s. But after that, I started losing my hair and decided that I could no longer wear my hair long. It looks good for a while but by the time I was 25, it was so thin that I started wearing a hat all the time. By the age of 27, I started researching hair transplants and found this forum. That was in 2004 if you can I’ll believe that. I was almost completely bald and would be a full blown Norwood 5A or 6  now if it wasn’t for for hair transplant procedures and 9600 Grafts.    So with that said, I thought I would post a few photos I took of myself at a recent event. Yes, it is the shameless bathroom selfie… Please forgive me but I am a hair geek through and through and thus, I felt compelled to take a few photos.

Looking good Bill! That's about how I've been wearing my hair actually. I also had my first HT around 2005. Man time does fly!

That’s a good question Melvin. I’m not exactly sure how long I intend on growing up. Probably not too terribly long, but I was thinking of potentially growing it down to my chin. That of course does seem pretty long in comparison to what my hair looks like now. But I thought I would give it a shot because I’d like to compare my hair long now to what it look like in high school long. However, I’m not so sure that I want to keep it long… This is more of an experimentation. However,  i’m having fun with it and I kind of like it the way it is at the moment so I guess we will see.  ?

I would of never thought u was balding if I saw u on the street .. looks good .. hair looks nice n full .. n it’s going  to last u a lifetime ..

Thanks Legend, I remember several years ago I was standing in the gym speaking to a female friend of mine named Lisa. I don’t know exactly why we were talking about this, but I think she was venting about all the females that I’ve had breast implants. And then she made a statement that it’s not like all these guys run out and get hair transplants when they are bald.    She then made a statement that she be able to spot a hair transplant from a mile away. Mind you, she was standing but one or 2 feet away from me. I asked her if she was sure she gets spot one and she said absolutely.   Then I asked her, “what if I told you that I had a hair transplant?”   She looked at my hair  and said “NO WAY” probably about a dozen times as she smiled and laughed and couldn’t believe that I had a hair transplant. She had no idea hair transplants could look so natural and she kept encouraging me to tell everybody so that they too could  we grow real hair again. And then I told her where I work and what I do and she just couldn’t believe it. Just goes to show that people today still have no idea how natural hair transplants are.

best wishes,

Bill

Time really does fly doesn’t it? My first hair transplant was only about a year before yours. Perhaps it’s time for you to share some updated photos of your hair ?

Best wishes,

Bill

i'm just wondering, this is complete transparent curiosity as I am set to have transplant in 2 weeks with Rahal, but why does the Hairline look a little pluggy IMO (again i am just wondering because i am going to be going through all of this very soon). Is it the skill of the surgeon, level of loss, technology when u first did it, or does it always come out like that? The one's I've seen by Rahal in person look slightly different to be quite honest

You have to remember that these photos were taken under the harshest lighting conditions - fluorescent bathroom lighting.   I challenge anyone who has has a hair transplant to date take photos under these harsh lighting conditions that typically makes when the thickest hair transplant look thin and most hairlines see-through.

That said, while my hairline may look a little harsh under these lighting conditions I can assure you that it doesn’t in real life and in most photos taken under normal or natural lighting conditions.

Thanks for your questions

Well if you saying everyone with a hair transplant looks like this under harshlight, saying that it always looks see through, I'm sorry but I find that rather hard to believe.

Would someone mind posting photos of themselves in harsh lighting?

From what I've seen, Melvin's does not look like this?

Ugh i'm so confused now. Can someone please post some harsh light pics of themselves.

Hair transplants are an illusion especially for anyone with extensive hair loss Norwood 4+. Length, lighting and styling they all play a role in how the results look.

I personally do not think Bills hair looks pluggy at all, I think it looks soft, which means a lot of single grafts were placed in the front. I think the way it’s styled in that picture flattened the hairline out, plus the lighting was really bright. I guarantee you if you ask any Norwood 6 if they would be happy with that hair they’d all say “hell yes”. In the picture he posted afterwards you can see what a difference lighting and styling makes.

Lastly, literalno I don’t know your current hair loss situation, perhaps you could share some photos and we can let you know if your goals are realistic.

Warm regards- Melvin

you just quoted the wrong photo. I am a norwood 3. I understand its an illusion, but the hairs still look pluggy. I'm just wondering why yours look much different in harsh lighting. More natural?

I quoted that photo to illustrate how hair transplants can change in appearance based on lighting and styling. Did you read my entire post?

Yes, exactly. So i'm assuming it comes down to the skill of surgeon essentially.

I'm not trying to put anyone down, just trying to figure it all out before mine in 2 weeks. When is your procedure?

Literal no,

I have literally had several reports from people who think you are a troll and ironically, just about every time I post something, you criticize me which I find ironic considering I’ve done nothing but try to help you. I don’t know exactly who you are or if you are a real genuine prospective patient or not. But I have already explained how harsh lighting impacts Howell a result looks. And you’re trying to tell me that you find it hard to believe? Is there a particular reason why you doubt what I’m saying? Why would I lie? I am the managing publisher of this community for a reason.  I have literally had several reports from people who think you are a troll and ironically, just about every time I post something, you criticize me which I find ironic considering I’ve done nothing but try to help you.  It’s also strange that you would ask for another picture when I have already provided additional pictures in this topic. You also saw pictures of my hairline provided by Melvin in another topic and I know you saw them so it’s obvious at this point you are just trolling and starting trouble.

I will give you one more chance because it possible you are a genuine prospective patient to be more respect full and actually listen when people are providing you with Information. We have no reason to lie to you here so what we tell you is either our strong opinions or 100% the truth. In this case, there are  dozens if not hundreds of topics dedicated to how lighting impacts the way a hair transplant looks.

I’ll second the comment above. Was this a result of your first transplant with Dr. True?

Just so you know, my first hair transplant was not with Dr. True. It is with Dr. Katz of Philadelphia.  My second hair transplant was with Dr. True and my third and fourth hair transplant were with Dr. Hasson.

I agree with Bill, not to mention the previous banner poster also mentioned Dr. Rahal continuously, but never provided his own photos or ever had surgery. But I hope that literalno is a legit poster.
