hey mick thanks for you input im glad you had a good result, looking at things would you agree with me,

1. you had a excellent donor

2. you were at a good age and your hair loss pattern was quite well established (older folks tend to do well with HT)

Hi Djlazerblue  ,yes I would agree with your 2 points, I did have excellent donor especially for a NW 5 , and yes most of my hair loss had occurred before the transplant, maybe had 4-500 miniaturised hairs on top whether they were shocked out or grew back would have made negligible cosmetic difference to the final result .

A younger guy has to make sure the Doc he chooses takes his future hair  loss into account and plans accordingly ,but I have to agree with you that doesn't always happen that's why this site and a few others are invaluable . ,unfortunately 1000's of young guys get suckered in by unscrupulous marketing .

I was one of the rookies trying to get a ht, started panicking when the hairloss became obvious .. so pretty grateful , I haven’t yet . I’m still nervous about it myself .. fear of future balding n playing catch-up .. n money ... n my situation is not as bad as other members here .. so best of luck to us all ..

There are “what if’s” in literally everything you do in life and everything in life that is worthwhile has an associated risk. I have already gone through the entire balding process in my 20’s, for me it is worth having hair now that I am still “somewhat” young as opposed to living my entire life bald. As someone who’s been bald trust me when I say it’s better to be bald at 60 than at 30.

Unfortunately, we are social creatures and we can not escape social stigmas, a man in his 60’s losing hair is seen as something that occurs naturally from age, the same can not be said about a man losing his hair in his 20’s. So as much as people say “you’ll still care in your 60’s” while that’s true, the reasoning is completely different. A young man has a transplant to look normal, while an older man gets a transplant to look younger. Obviously, anyone is free to disagree, but as someone who’s been through it already, If I go through it again in my 60’s it would’ve been worth every penny, because I’m living my life to the fullest right now.
