2nd FUE with Dr. Luis Nader - 2,081 Follicles

I had posted all this content on RealSelf but decided to register on this forum and add the info here as well.

I had my 1st FUE with Dr. Nader in May 2015, total of a bit over 3,000 grafts.

I then decided to go for my 2nd one to get more density. It was yesterday Friday June 15.

Dr. Nader recommended we add towards the front and middle as this would give me the best results and I agreed with his judgment and knowledge. My hairline is fine but behind it the hair has been thinning and needed more density.

Although I had considered Turkey due to the real cheap cost, I really zeroed in to go back to Dr. Nader, and I have no regrets and am VERY happy. I know many of you have been to Turkey and are happy with your results too, but I can honestly tell you that Dr. Nader is a world class doctor.

He is a first class doctor, to me perhaps one of the best or the best or one of the top HT doctors on this side of the world.

His bed manners, professionalism, caring about his patients, his assistants, everything.

Dr. Nader performs FUE to ONLY 1 patient in a daily basis. This is very important to me. Some doctors in Turkey see multiple patients in one day, so to me I felt that would be like going to an assembly line, plus all the reviews I see the assistants always perform most of the work following the doctor’s recommendation; again for me that wouldn’t cut it and I personally rather want the actual doctor to be present at all times.

Dr. Nader is the one who designs the procedure, he injects the anesthesia, he extracts the hair and he transplants the hair. He has an assistant who helps placing the hair into the recipient area but he is always there placing hairs and never steps away until the very last hair to be placed..!!

I see many posts from people that went to Turkey and their painful process for the anesthesia. Let me tell you and make no mistake, Dr. Nader has hands of an angel because I felt almost zero pain, maybe 1 out of 10 if that. He uses a vibration device on the scalp when doing the injections to help distract your brain and honestly the pain is almost nothing, just a tiny pinch in a couple cases and most of the injections I did not feel at all whatsoever.

I know there's no munch posted on this forum about him, but I can tell you he is very legit and has more work that he can handle with so many happy patients, so appointments are probably 2 months away. He has a low profile as he doesn’t really need to advertise his work, most of his patients have gone to him due to word of mouth.

Now the waiting game.

Some of the before pics were taken back at home with a little bit of hair gel applied, I then brushed my hair to make it look dry.

Surgery day:

-picked up by Santos around 7:45am, the trusted driver for over 10 years, very honest and nice guy

-we arrived at Nader Medical around 8:15am

-In a couple minutes I was promptly greeted with a warm welcome by Brenda, the admin assistant, and then by Dr. Nader.

-We immediately went to his office and started chatting about personal life and my hair loss. I mentioned my main areas of concerns and agreed on a plan

-Around 9:30a we went to operating room, changed cloth es and the staff started zipping my head with #0, all zipped.

-Dr. Nader put an anti-inflammatory injection in my arm, which I was happy to know he’s doing it now. Plus a small pill to place under my tongue, a muscle relaxer.

-Anesthesia injections followed to the donor area, I am very pleased on how the doctor handles this, top notch, almost no pain at all and he goes very slow making sure the patient is relaxed and feeling comfortable. Frequently he asked me if I was feeling ok and to let him know if any discomfort.

-Surgery started a few minutes later in another room with extraction from donor area. This took I think around close to 3 hours maybe? The other assistants were doing the meticulous work of analyzing the grafts, counting, classifying and all that.

I was happy to see lots more grafts with 2 and 3 hairs. I have the exact number on a paper given to me and could post the numbers later.

We then paused for a delicious lunch around after 1pm

-After about half an hour or a bit longer, we resumed for the next phase

-We went back to he first room for anesthesia in recipient area followed by insertion of the follicles mainly by him and assisted by the medical assistant.

-This was finished around 4pm when we stayed wrapping up with cleaning and all that.

-I then finally went to his office to discuss the post operation process, all the pills he provides, very specific instructions for the following days and weeks.

This is what sets him apart from other doctors....NOW is when you pay for the work, at the very end of the process, to me, this gives me assurance of who he is and what his priorities are. We hand shake and hugged, I thanked him a lot and told him how much appreciation I had.

-Santos the driver was already waiting or me outside, this was now like 5pm, he brought me back to the hotel in McAllen, TX.

-Today I am writing this review from the hotel room and waiting and heading soon to the airport to go back home. The hotel the doctor has used for years is very nice, they have free breakfast and a shuttle for round trip to the airport, which is very close and within walking distance, and they even give you a ride if you need to go somewhere around the area if you need to get something.

Great service and also good free WiFi.

thats some impressive hair line work in your pre op pics!

Lol, that is mother nature. My hairline has not been touched or re-designed whatsoever on either FUE procedure.

The thinning has been happening behind it and towards the crown.

We'll see how my hairline holds in the future, just hoping to see no recession with the thinning but we'll see, keeping my fingers crossed.

I found the brave in me and went to the office just 3 days after my FUE, used a baseball cap the first day to go as incognito but then started revealing it to some people and friends in the gym (we have a gym here at work....oh yeah..!!), but then by the following day the cap was off since I didn't care anymore whether people had an opinion or not, in fact anyone asked and I said it was a HT.

What is funny is that many people told me that I looked good bald, even my kids and the wife, so maybe shaving my head in a far future may not be a bad thing...LOL
