hairadvicecanada Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Hi, I inquired about a restoration in Turkey (I'm from Canada). I assumed I would be provided info about FUE, which is what I had in mind. However, when I sent over my pics (Norwood III approx), they said it was better to go the method of choi pen. Does anyone have any experience or info on this? Much appreciated.
Moderators Al - Moderator Posted May 11, 2018 Moderators Posted May 11, 2018 The choi implanter pen is one of various tools/methods used to perform FUE. I imagine they recommended it because that is what they use. Do a google search for choi implanter pen to get an idea of what it is. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted May 11, 2018 Administrators Posted May 11, 2018 The Choi pen is an implanting device that creates both the recipient site and implants the grafts at the same time. However, it is important to know that it does not harvest the grafts, there are two harvesting techniques which are follicular unit excision (FUE) and follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS). The Choi pen is an implantation tool. I encourage you to verify with the clinic what harvesting method they suggest for your case. Senior Member gillenator Posted May 11, 2018 Senior Member Posted May 11, 2018 The choi implanter has been around for a number of years although questionable as to how extensive or widespread it is used. I think DHI first developed it roughly a decade ago or so. Like anything else, it really comes down to the level of skill and proven results regardless of who the surgeon is and/or the methodology whether FUHT or FUE. FUE is an acronym for Follicular Unit Extraction. Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic.
