Regular Member WAYNED1991 Posted May 6, 2018 Regular Member Posted May 6, 2018 How badly does a blow dryer have an impact on you're hair loss? I tend to have long hair so need to dry it with a hair dryer? I use it on the lowest setting and set it to the cool setting so it isn't Heaty.
Senior Member pkipling Posted May 11, 2018 Senior Member Posted May 11, 2018 Using a blow dryer won't increase hair loss in terms of MPB/the root of the hair. If used frequently on high heat however, it can damage the hair itself and cause it to become weak and unhealthy and break off. So it's really more about the health of your hair than it is about increasing actual hair loss. (In fact, I've found that using a blow dryer on my hair can help it to look thicker in the crown area, so it has it's advantages as well.) Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted May 12, 2018 Administrators Posted May 12, 2018 I blow dry my hair every day, as long as you don’t use high heat you should be fine. I’ve found that blow drying my hair builds volume. Quote I was just an inch away from booking a a hairmill based on google reviews before i stumbled upon this goldmine of a forum. Senior Member matt3480 Posted May 12, 2018 Senior Member Posted May 12, 2018 Yep, blow dryer on low setting/cold setting is what I use..... No more heat for me....I also don't wash my hair with hot water anymore for the same reason (use lukewarm).
Regular Member WAYNED1991 Posted May 12, 2018 Author Regular Member Posted May 12, 2018 Thanks guys! I also find that a dryer makes my hair look thicker which is another reason why I use it haha. I tend to go over the top of my scalp with a dryer for a small amount of time and focus more time on drying the side and back of my hair
