Regular Member darkandcumbrian Posted April 14, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted April 14, 2018 It certainly benefitted me, as did my meeting with Spex, even though I didn’t decide to go with one of his recommended surgeons. Spex gave me a lot of good advice and not sure how my post could be seen as advocating sales consultants and marketeers, Doex is a good guy and certainly not a salesman in his approach. JeanLDD clearly prefers to rely on online research which is his prerogative, but everyone should be free to decide for themselves whether they have a consult and all I was doing was pointing out what I see as the benefits of that. Meeting Dr Devroye a year before my surgery helped me make my mind up to proceed with surgery after 15 years of considering it, he certainly didn’t put any pressure on me to book a procedure. Senior Member Gasthoerer Posted April 14, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted April 14, 2018 In my personal opinion there are several good reasons to have a consultancy in person: - A good clinic is going to measure your donor (density, area and hair Diameter). This very important as pictures are very misleading. - The clinic can draw a hairline and you can see if you like it. Personally I would not want to do this at the day of the surgery, as I would be nervous that day. A hairline is really personal taste: One of my favorite clinics for FUT which I often recommend typically creates hairlines that doesn't match my taste. It is good to discuss this before you take such a big step. - Especially with diffuse thinning like me, you need a personal consultation to define the amount of required grafts. All three clinics I have visited completely changed there mind after a personal consultation. 400+ grafts in 2018 and 2900 grafts in 2020 via FUE with Feriduni
