Hair procedure without balding?

Recommended Posts

I'm 21 years old and as yet have experienced no noticeable hairloss/balding. I have however always had a very high hairline, and my hair is quite fine, and as I've grown into maturity and my face has become longer this is a very pronounced and less than aesthetically ideal combination. Is hair transplant/restoration surgery a possible option for me? I've heard a lot about people losing their hair being pleased with results, but I'm just interested in advancing my hairline (assuming a doctor would be able to do so and make it appear natural and aesthetically appealing) so my forehead isn't so huge and it doesn't look like my hairline is receding.

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I live in North Carolina, and am willing to travel within the State (or even without, is need be) to find the best doctor.

Thank you,

Steve

This is something I would wait to do. If you were to lose native hair behind the transplanted hair in the future, you would need additional surgeries to fill in the gaps. And you need to remember that hair transplants are invasive.

I understand what you want to do, but the risks involved outweigh the possible benefits, especially at your age.

My initial HT thread:

done and done!! Check it out...

I agree with Eman because you are young and you don't know what will happen in 10 or so years. However, look at this guy. Maybe this will give you an idea of what you might be getting into. He has some hairloss but not very much. Apparently he had another HT before this last one and personally I thought he looked ok as is. But he wanted a lower hairline too and I'm sure it will look good.

Do you have any pictures?

I too have a higher hairline (course hair) and went to a doctor for a consultation when I was 23. The doctor told me to wait a few years to see if I was receding. I am 26 now and had two consultations from some of the most respected surgeons in the world. They both agreed that I'm a candidate now to lower my hairline. I say wait like I did.

Quite frankely I still am young and people will tell me to wait. I however have spoken with doctor's that have turned away plenty of people before in similar situations and agreed that I am a candidate.
