portsmouthpal Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Hi all, my story is this, I already had a procedure done a while ago where I had 1500 grafts from my donor to use for my vertex, at the time I didnt have too much loss and so I didnt need a great deal of grafts, however the time has come that my hair has thinned so much again ontop the bald spot is appearing again and I really want to get this covered. When I got my original transplant done, I was really shocked to realise how much thinner my donor felt with only 1500 grafts taken but its crazy I really feel it and can see it pretty clearly so this is part of the reason I dont want to get more taken from my donor if I can help it, the other reason is there is a chance that future treatments coming out in 2020 will also rely on donor hairs, if I was to loose any in the process or they are somehow no longer viable for this future treatment I would be kicking myself. I know this very very far from set in stone but it still seems like a risk when there is the potential treatment in the near future which I know many other agree with on general hairloss forums. I still have some native hairs in the area on top and im hoping that getting a body hair transplant may give me a good 2 years more life time in covering up the thinning/balding area, I do have pretty thick chest hairs so I was really hoping to use these or even pubic hairs or armpit (would be best in terms of not caring about scarring etc but their pretty thin and weird looking.) I understand the yield rate is less then with head donor but im willing to loose some transplanted hairs if it means i dont harm my donor head hairs. I was firstly wondering what people thought the over all yield percentage may be? and secondly who would be the best surgeons who specialise in body hair transplants? I cant seem to find anything from searching it seems like a rare procedure still. Thanks so much for your time everyone, hopefully this can help out anyone else that may be having the same thought process as me
