Regular Member Goldenboy Posted February 8, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted February 8, 2018 Gone for my second hair transplant in the front after the first with another surgeon, left undesirable results. Took the plunge after seeing Ernie's page so anything close to that I will be very happy! Objectives - fortify front of hairline and behind as the estimated existing density was only 25 grafts/cm2 - create new temple points to frame the face Numbers: Single hairs = 277 Double hairs = 1806 Triple hairs = 611 Quadruple hairs = 109 Total grafts = 2803 Total hairs = 6158 Recipient area = 60cm2 Recipient graft density approx 46/cm2 on top of existing (hopefully 70 plus when it grows in) After consultation we were shooting for 2200 grafts but it turned out my donor was stronger than expected (2.1 hairs per graft), so ended up at 2800. I've still got grafts in the bank for FUT and FUE if needed down the line but I'm hoping to maintain what I have with finasteride and PRP. Been stable on fin for 10 years now. Whole process has been world's apart from the last - from communication, the staff, the process, and after care, I've felt at ease the entire way. I'm staying at the Rahal guest house which is situated next door to the clinic and I can't reiterate how convenient this is for ducking and diving in and out of surgery, for follow up appointments to check your progress, and for having the head washed. I've also met a bunch of guys from different parts of the world that I've stayed in touch with, and it was surprisingly liberating and funny to talk hair loss stories sitting down post-op without caring lol. I'm here for two weeks until my sutures are removed so i'm currently working my way through Netflix and the unlimited breakfast food supply, which really makes it good value. Overall I've been very impressed and now waiting for the big finale in a few months time. Uploading my pics so far and will be updating at 1, 3, 6 month etc, please feel free to comment. I'm interested to hear other people's questions or feedback. Cheers!! Regular Member Cheddar Posted February 14, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted February 14, 2018 Do you take finasteride? Were there any concerns with shockloss? You still had a significant amount of original hair.

Regular Member Windjammer Posted February 14, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted February 14, 2018 You are an interesting and fairly difficult case, Goldenboy. You transplanted in and around a lot of native and, presumably, previously transplanted hair. I do hope Rahal's team did well by you and that any potential shockloss will be kept at bay. Also, how big was your previous surgery and was it FUT or FUE? Best of luck to you and looking forward to seeing your progress

You still had a significant amount of original hair. Yeah been on finasteride for approx ten years now. When I had my first procedure I didn’t have any noticeable shockloss so I’m hoping it will be the same case as last time. My hair hasn’t changed at all (at least to my eyes) since I began fin. Best of luck to you and looking forward to seeing your progress Hey Windjammer, I also assumed I was a complicated case, but I raised this with Dr Rahal and he didn’t seem to think it was particularly difficult in any way... Previously had 2100 FUE in more or less the exact same area, maybe slightly smaller. Even had similar temple points placed but as you can see did not create any significant difference. All incision angles were in line with the previous so I don’t think any of that will shock out. As for any original hair I’m not sure but quietly confident based on how I reacted to the first one. Regular Member Goldenboy Posted February 17, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 17, 2018 Few from after my first proper shower and shampoo. Few crusts at some of the roots remained until the next day when they all came off as I applied a little more force. Regular Member Goldenboy Posted February 17, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 17, 2018 Scar still a bit red but looks to be healing nicely. Hoping it will be well covered in all scenarios down the line, if not may get a little SMP into it. The worst part was having to wash and apply polyderm cream onto the fresh wound  Rahal FUT, 2800 frontal grafts (30/1/18) http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/189021-dr-rahal-fut-2803-30-1-18-a.html
Senior Member mattj Posted February 18, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2018 All looking good/normal so far. It's nice that SMP exists as an option, but unlikely to be needed with your hair at that length, especially with your hair texture. I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal. Regular Member Goldenboy Posted March 1, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 1, 2018 1 month pics - haven’t bothered with a hair cut yet as I wear a hat constantly lol Shed the majority of grafts. Skin seems to be healthy and scar is looking good although still red in places. If it clears up I’m hoping I can buzz my hair to a #3 or #4 in the future. No major shock loss so far - maybe a few hundred hairs or so in the recipient, and a little in the donor. Senior Member bman3082 Posted April 23, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted April 23, 2018 I'm 15 months out with Rahal, you're going to be so happy hey i just came across your thread about your ht my pm's arent working, but I was wondering mainly if your hair texture matches your original texture at 15 months out, or is the texture a little different as I tend to see with some other hair transplants. Awesome results btw. If you want you can email me at nhlpro11@hotmail.com
Regular Member Goldenboy Posted April 30, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 30, 2018 Exactly 3 months today and can't see any sign of growth yet. I've had so many pimples so hopefully that is a good sign. I keep having recurring ones on the right temple point but so constantly, to the point where I worry it's going to affect the skin or even growth? Still a very small amount of shock loss above the ears but has been recovering nicely. Hair looks really bad at the moment, I'll be getting a haircut after a family party in a couple of weeks so will post some new pics then. Included a pic in the dark which shows the outline hopefully coming in, but from the lighter pics you can see how thin the hair is... Regular Member Goldenboy Posted May 16, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 16, 2018 Quick update: Got a haircut and shaved down to a #3 on the back/sides. Frame of my face has changed with the new temple hair coming in, haven’t looked this good at this short length for a LONG time. Scar looking good apart from minor shockloss which should hopefully resolve. Taken pics in direct daylight and a couple slightly further back where a difference can be seen.
